Temple of Kraden News:
| Greetings, heathen. Perhaps some fortuitous blessing of Kraden's grace hath led you to our humble Temple, or perhaps you are simply curious about this strange and wonderful cult. Should you be willing - and dare to hope - to achieve enlightenment, the door opens before you. Lo! Leave your old life behind! For once you step through, you become something more than just yourself. You become a Kradenette. Are you willing to make the rapturous plunge? Do you have what it takes? One of us! One of us! ![]() Whaddup Insul? Hope you're enjoying that sweet sweet engineer's life. There's definitely lots of places for a jack-of-all-trades engineer, though idk where to look with those fields. Unless you're doing specialized design work with your Master's, though, a lot of places just want someone who has an engineering background (of any kind), particularly if you start getting into things like systems or programs, where there's less focus on the details and more focus on integration, operation, or implementation. |

Omg nanoengineering! I've played around in that field (my uni's materials department is closely associated with our nanoengineering department so there's a lot of interplay). If you're in your last year, you'd be thesis'ing right? What're you working on? and yeah i've given up on even trying to look at my old posts. i commend your courage in looking over your own; i do not posess that |

I claimed I'd return when you'd least expect it, and steal some of Insul's thunder in his thread. Or at least I meant to. Likely forgot. Heya! To insul to avoid the double post: My school does a project instead of an undergrad thesis, but I'm working on a super-capacitor thread for clothing using graphene oxide coated nylon with PVA-LiCl electrolyte. Yeah it's pretty material science heavy overall, i'm not surprised there'd be interplay. |

so i'm guessing from ulta's reaction that minaku's reappearance is more exciting than my own late 2009 kradenettes assemble! And yeah HJ so I tend to like the design work is the thing, and to compound the issue I'm in Australia which doesn't tend to do much of that. I think I'm equally likely to want to abandon the engineering paycheck and go straight into research, but that's a decision for another tiiime. And huh, neaaaat. I've never really played much with capacitors, but they do seem pretty cool. I am 100% into functional polymers though, they're basically my research love <3 Playing around with polymer electrolytes as well this coming break for cardiac patches which I'm a bit excited for! What's the idea behind stitching it into clothing though? Edited by Dreaming Sun, Nov 7 2017, 09:51 PM.

I got to play with some electroactive polymers at a job once, was a good day. And cardiac patches are really cool! Bio materials in general are pretty awesome, haven't had much experience with them though. Basic idea is a prototype for wearable tech. A lot of sensors can run at low voltage and current now thanks to MEMs, so you don't need that much power stored up. If you can have the stitching or designs in the shirt store power you can run some simple devices off your shirt. Even better since people are working on piezo electrics and what not so you can charge it just by moving around during your day. It's not exactly my passion project, but it is cheap and potentially doable by next march. So that's handy :B |

in our (ferroelectric/piezoelectric) labgroup we've joked a lot about basicaly making cyborgs/that sort of human generated wearable tech I... didn't know that it was actually being actively worked on nowadays. Aaaaall the best with that! try not to kill us with cyborgs |

I mean, the end goal would be conversion. Why waste materials? Nanotechnology is about being efficient with available resources. But yeah I'm not sure how successful anyone has been using those to charge the supercapacitors. Not enough for widespread usage at least. |
