Death comes to all of those who oppose me.

Why? Because between spreadsheets and paying bills it seemed like a better idea than drugs. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p2ChDDLTdR4 ( Entirely off topic but I highly advise watching all of this it's called Health Reminder there's 3 of them.) More on topic Anime's will be reviewed in the order I watched them. Also I stopped watching anime for a number of years, and just started up again this is what I've got through so far. I'll try to be vague in case others want to watch it.

Kenran Butou Sai: THE MARS DAYBREAK- It's mediocre it's about as standard as they come. Young man with a good heart runs in with some pirates on mars after falling into the water his necklace activates and he becomes a mech pilot. He's awesome story goes on from there. At this point you pretty much know what you're getting, and that's not to say it's bad but nothing about it stood out.

Bakemonogatari- This anime is weird, and occasionally very good, and occasionally terrible. The series follows an immortal vampire around as he encounters other anomalies and how he deals with the situations. The animation isn't like most animes with a litany of cuts between scenes that won't be for everyone. Moreover, because it doesn't really follow a singular story you enjoyment may come from how much you enjoy that individual arc all of which are 2-5 episodes long. It and it's sequels are all like that, but the "first date" Episode is fantastic, and I could advise you watch just that episode knowing only that it's a couple on their first date (Episode 12). Between the cuts and the dialogue(a hybrid of people talking to themselves to each other, and philosophy at times.) It suffers from OP main character syndrome where the protagonist is immortal (Literally even though they say he isn't) and this takes away from the series as there isn't much tension with him. I enjoyed it more than I didn't it certainly isn't for everyone. (I haven't finished this series yet it's several series long)

Snow White with the Red Hair. I'm only through the first series as there is a second season, but haven't gotten to it yet. A young herbalist meets the young prince after running away as she didn't want to be the concubine of a different prince. It's kind of their journey from that point. The main female protagonist is really good, and the show is at it's best when they are letting her be a Sherlock with plants helping people. The show is slow without a great deal of action it's more of a drama than anything else it's not bad though, and if you're looking for a slower anime with pretty good characters I would recommend it. One down side is that the best character is Obi who doesn't get enough screen time.

Kaze no Stigma- An anime about a guy who was banished by from his home as he didn't have the ability to control fire which everyone else in his family has but comes back with the ability to control wind he hooks up with his family member a younger girl who is top notch in her family and where they go from there. It's pretty good, but not great. The questions surrounding why he is the way he is drives the show that can bog down sometimes. The best character Ren who has by far the most growth and struggle of any of the characters while handling it the best. He really needs his own series, and when he and his friends are on screen the show is at it's best. Outside of that the action is really well animated and fun. It should not that there is no second season and sets up for one, but it does end up in a place that doesn't feel cheated through its first run.

Chivalry of a failed knight- This is outstanding, one of the best animes I've seen and easily one of the top two on this list. A young man walks in on a girl getting dressed which leads to a fight the boy labeled "The worst one" as he doesn't have any real powers magically. The story then goes on from there as he enters a tournament at his school. Both he and the main female character are outstandingly well written as well as the way his powers manifest without feeling like he's just become OP. His tactics as to how he handles the fight comes off more as a strategist rather than wining with the power of heart. It's funny and the writing is on point for almost every situation. It's also one of the few animes that calls out other animes for for having sibling lovers in one of my favorite anime scenes ever. Do watch.

Elemental Gelade- I was recommended this due to it's ties to Outlaw Star, which it does hit somewhat. Dude (Who is a sky pirate) finds girl locked in a box that isn't entirely human that has special powers of sorts. Other forces want the girl for her power. I like the action animation, but outside of that it's pretty average. Van isn't as interesting as Gene, and the overarching story isn't quite as interesting. However, I did enjoy it largely because it is similar in a lot of ways. So if you like Outlaw Star give this a shot. If you're into pirates space or otherwise give it a shot; if you're not you'll probably want to skip it.

Gakusen Toshi Asterisk- I was recommended this because I loved Chivalry of a failed Knight, and it's first few moments are almost an exact copy after that it's like the second place finisher. Slightly different as this time around it's a tag tournament and they are fighting for the school. It's two seasons in and I did finish both of them, but the show has some glaring flaws to it. First of all the characters outside of Saya (The main protagonists closest friend) aren't particularly interesting and their reasons for fighting while all worthwhile feel too dramatic. The main character in particular seems to almost be a side character just doing things because. There is intrigue of an Illuminati like grouping that is controlling things from behind the scenes but through two seasons it hasn't gone anywhere and is slowly feeling more lost. It's not great and not so bad that I won't watch the third seasons if there is one.

Guilty Crown-I didn't like this anime which is a shame because I know how much I've heard that a lot of people love it, but the show just loses it about 2/3's of the way through for me. A highschool kid gets caught up with a power to pull "Voids, or items" from a persons body in doing so he becomes a part of a guerrilla fighting force. If the story had stayed focused in this it would have been outstanding, but it devolves into kids fighting God so to speak and it's really really sad. It's not objectively bad, but I just didn't enjoy it.

akatsuki no yona- It's outstanding, but I can't recommend it as the show is clearly meant for more than 12 episodes and stops at a place that is entirely unsatisfying. The main character is Yona a girl who is chased from her kingdom when her the cousin who she loves kills her father and she sees it. Her and her bodyguard escape and their adventures from there. Everything about this anime I like. The action is good although the main characters are kind of OP and it feels like a dynasty warriors fight scenes at times. Despite that it doesn't feel like the main characters are invincible and all of their stories are interesting. It's a great balances the action, romance, and humor better that almost anything else I've watched I fucking love this anime.

Strike the Blood- Another just okay anime as it also starts a vampire who is immortal which takes away almost all of the tension. Aside from that it's standard as standard can be a young vampire gets superpowers and meets a girl who's supposed to watch over him. The action I will say is good so and the magic from them is a fun spectacle, but outside of that you can take it or leave it.

Other animies I started, but couldn't finish for one reason or another. Hunter X Hunter, Accel World, and Macross Frontier

Bakemonogatari is Good Shit

sometimes good
sometimes shit

S1 is the weakest by far, though. MGSS is probs my favourite.
I'd have to respectfully disagree about the MC being overpowered. It's definitely not a traditional shounen. The immortality is basically so he can keep talking while getting his ass kicked in glorious blood-spattering Shaft, because the conversations are what the show's really about

Death comes to all of those who oppose me.

@Whim It helps that most of these are 12-24 episodes as a general rule I stay way from Anime that are hundreds of episodes long. Also otherwise being a normal adult gives me plenty of time lol.

@Satty That's a fair point, and I'd totally agree about the conversations.

New round of Anime reviews

Buso Renkin- A young man Kazuki jumps in front of a girl to save her getting stabbed in the heart in the process. As it turns out the girl was luring the monster into a trap and decides to save him using alchemy. From that point it's a light, but not bad anime involving the adventure of Kazuki and his mates. It's 26 episodes and is fairly standard fair hitting on almost every note you expect it to. I don't necessarily think that it's bad for that reason as the animation is pretty good most of the time. If you're looking for a fairly well done but pretty standard anime give this one a watch.

Detroit Metal City- a very short (episodes are only about ten min, and only 12 episodes) about an aspiring singer who gets himself into a Metal band despite wanting to be a Jason Mraz type. With everything he does his legend grows unintentionally. It's kind of insane in a 90's sitcom kind of way where you're left asking how in the hell is this happening. This really isn't an anime for everyone and was very meh on it myself. It has a nice humor about it, but it doesn't really go anywhere. Also not real metal music if you're a fan of metal outside of one song.

Toaru Hikuushi e no Koiuta- The most disappointment anime on this list not necessarily due to it's quality, but of how great it is through it's first half of it's 13 episodes and how blah it is through the second half culminating in a final couple episodes that seem to exist for the setup of another season. The former prince of a nation joins his step-sister in a adventure where they go on a flying island to become pilots. He has ulterior motives for embarking on the journey. Like I said I loved the first half of this as you get introduced a good selection of characters whom all seem really interesting, and where you think there is going to be growth and interesting plots turn into much of nothing with little resolution on many fronts and you're just left in a ball of disappointment. I do not recommenced.

Maoyuu Maou Yuusha- A good anime as the hero (Yes that's what he's called throughout the series) meets up wit the devil king (Again that's her name throughout the series) with the desire to kill him. When he finds out it's a her he hesitates giving her the opportunity to talk to him about ending the war between human and demons while trying to spill as little blood as possible. What I enjoyed about this one was that you got the clear reason why the war is going on from a political perspective and most of the time the nations doing the things they are make sense. The main here is very OP which I hate, but due to the series focusing on trying to find solutions outside of violence makes it really good. At 13 episodes it sets up fro a second season, but isn't unsatisfying when it's ended. It also has a nice infusion of humor to it enough so that it keeps the whole series fairly light.

Kyoukai no Kanata- By far the best anime on this list I loved every minute of it. Kanbara is halfshade who finds dealing with a girl who controls her blood and uses it as a weapon to try and kill him. Kuriyama isn't able to kill the immortal half shade as easily as she thought. Eventually they two agree to a mutual truce as he can't be killed by her it would seem, and he couldn't fight her even if he wanted to. Everything about this I liked. The main character while immortal isn't overpowered. All of the main plot-threads seem to come full circle not leaving you with more questions than answers, and the anime has a certain charm to it that is undeniable. Put that on top of some really great animation and throw in enough silliness to make you laugh and you got the mixture for an anime that would easily be in my top ten of all time. It's only 12 episodes if you're a fan of anime take the time to watch this one.
