Temple of Kraden News: Welcome to the Temple of Kraden! ------ All worshipers may enter the Most Holy Place in single file, reflecting on the bountiful blessing Kraden hath provided unto him or herself since their last visit. Head coverings are not necessary, as true penitence and humility are found within. The Priests and Priestesses of Kraden endeavor to remind all that fresh orange juice is heavily preferred; only whores use frozen.
Greetings, heathen. Perhaps some fortuitous blessing of Kraden's grace hath led you to our humble Temple, or perhaps you are simply curious about this strange and wonderful cult. Should you be willing - and dare to hope - to achieve enlightenment, the door opens before you. Lo! Leave your old life behind! For once you step through, you become something more than just yourself.

You become a Kradenette.

Are you willing to make the rapturous plunge? Do you have what it takes?

I can handle being told that I like love and peace, I can take that blow. But never tell me that I like trees.

Nobody likes those [radio edit]ing trees.

Sad to say, that IS how the real world works. (I blame Bush and Blair personally)

If only there was some way to expedite the process, a kind of solution that would finally end the immigration, like some kind of penal colony we could basically deport immigrants to on criminal charges (suggested crime: being an immigrant), where they could work making weapons and goods for the empire out of sight of decent people...

hmm...

Everyone is talking about how the UK is doing as far as trading and currency goes, but how is the rest of the EU doing?
Shaky stock markets (Here in Sweden for example. We're also sad since UK was/is an important business partner), worries that other countries might follow since nationalism and populism and xenophobia is on the rise throughout Europe and brexit is a result of it etc etc

but not only europe was affected, canada was affected and even african countries
My sister and I experienced xenophobia in Paris last February. Now we're both white Americans, but on a few occasions we put our scarves over our heads in a hijab-like style to protect our hair from the rain. When we did this we got a few very long, serious stares and beggars stopped approaching us.

Sorry to hear that Jenna, it's sad hijabs alone gives that reaction.

Mr. I-Live-In-The-Real-World-And-I'm-So-Sad-About-It,

Since you live in the Real World, did you know that most refugees actually do flee to neighbor countries like your wet dream? Want to know how much? Slightly more than 10% actually comes to Europe.

Wanna know how many your poor overpopulated and overencumbered UK has granted asylum to? 5,102, out of 9,467 applicants.

Thank God Brexit will save you from this unrelenting horde.

Out of total 1,037,760 (between Apr 2011 and Apr 2016) Syrian refugee asylum applicants (718,821 if we look at EU only) Germany and Serbia ALONE has taken in 62% applicants. Sweden, Hungary, Austria, Netherlands, Denmark have taken in 26% applicants. All the other European countries, UK included, are at a 11% together.

Is...is this the mass immigration you're talking about?

KITN-Your mistake is only counting the legal immigrants.
Jenna - that's because France is VERY anti Muslim and anti Jewish (to the point of Jews leaving France to come to the UK), and they've banned the Burkha (and iirc the Hijab as well). Plus they're pretty racist. I have a French friend who's black, but his family have been in France for generations. He said that back in France he was always being asked where he came from (the centre of Paris) and what was he doing in France.

Okay, Seccy, then how do you count the 'illegal' immigrants, as you say? I'm not sure how the EU thing works, but presumably they would require some sort of documentation before crossing borders, ie. an EU passport or membership?

Also, Canada has currently accepted 28,000 Syrian refugees, and is planning to take 35,000. Last I checked, our country hasn't exploded. My tiny-ass hometown even took in a few hundred and from what I hear, they're getting along very well. A few new businesses are even booming selling halal meat and so on.

It's pretty basic. Illegal (or irregular) immigration in UK:

  • Entered the UK without authority
  • Entered with false documents
  • Overstayed their visas
  • Worked or studied on a tourist visa/ non-immigrant visa waiver
  • Entered into forced or fraudulent marriage

I can't seem to find any clear, official statistics on illegal immigration in UK atm. Obviously if you're illegal you want to keep a low profile so I can understand if it's difficult finding a clear number. There's a lot of estimation.

On wikipedia: "Although it is difficult to measure how many people reside in the UK without authorisation, a Home Office study based on Census 2001 data released in March 2005 estimated a population of between 310,000 and 570,000." with source to http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/politics/4989874.stm

This of course is years before the Syrian Civil War. So if the UK hadn't collapsed from the illegal immigrants already in the country by 2005, is the number of possible Syrian illegal immigrants significant enough? That's where I don't find much numbers.

Nope. Once you're in the Schengen Zone you can go wherever the [radio edit] you want. No documentation needed!

uh oh

Waitwaitwait, so hold up. Once you're in the Schengen Zone, you can go anywhere you want in the Schengen Zone, of which the UK is not a part of. And once migrants get into the Schengen Zone they can go anywhere... except the UK, which is how they're getting into the UK.

Am I reading this right or are you really making like a million jumps in your train of thought

And on second thought, what kind of place actually does have the infrastructure to deal with lots of immigrants, then? India or China, both of which already have more than 1bn people? A banana republic in central/south america? A central African country which needs to deal with corruption, malaria, and oh, I dunno, non-existent infrastructure? Austrailia? How would they even get to any of these places?

Because it's based on the logic "anywhere but here".

And the same with "go back to your own country".

They're leaving everything behind for fear of their own life.

They're not on vacation, Hisui. They wouldn't become refugees unless they had no other choice.

Why...why would it even come to your mind to...return back...?

At least there they have a chance, rather than being on the dole most of their lives in the UK and being treated (unofficially) like second-class citizens.
Shadow - the problem is, Schengen makes it easy for them to cross Europe, then cross illegally into the UK. EU law then says we can't kick them out (a few months ago the EU said we had to let some guy stay because he'd purchased a cat while living illegally in the UK)
Outside of the EU we can start loading these people onto planes and shipping them back to Syria. So far, we've only managed to send a few thousand back there.
