Temple of Kraden News: Welcome to the Temple of Kraden! ------ All worshipers may enter the Most Holy Place in single file, reflecting on the bountiful blessing Kraden hath provided unto him or herself since their last visit. Head coverings are not necessary, as true penitence and humility are found within. The Priests and Priestesses of Kraden endeavor to remind all that fresh orange juice is heavily preferred; only whores use frozen.
Greetings, heathen. Perhaps some fortuitous blessing of Kraden's grace hath led you to our humble Temple, or perhaps you are simply curious about this strange and wonderful cult. Should you be willing - and dare to hope - to achieve enlightenment, the door opens before you. Lo! Leave your old life behind! You become a Kradenette.

Are you willing to make the rapturous plunge? Do you have what it takes?

The bonfire; I think we've all done it at some point.

Thanks Poui.

Haven't we?

You, your best friend, one or two else; any siblings close to your age, maybe. Just, some people, a bunch of lawn chairs, some drinks, maybe alcohol, maybe not(Usually not in my case) and the oncoming night. The wood, carefully prepared, stacked; lit, burned by tinder and warming flesh made cold by chill midnight air?

The conversation, the quiet, dancing flame stillness of the minutes that pass in comfortable silence. Ah, but the roar of the fire as it spreads to the new wood, placed just so. The laughter, the drama. It is a setting of natural tones, out in the yard, away from the light and the blue, away from obligations. Is it solely an escape, in truth?

I think not, in truth, it is a simple pleasure, the talk among friends who have rarely gotten together these days. The talk of old times, the filling in of the between times and the sharing of hopes for the times to come. With the crackle and flicker, the pop and the flare, the gently lifting raise of the heat on the wind. When is the time best?

At the beginning, when all is young, there is light, fading and loose in the sky, turning blues and yellows to purple and the bruised reds of the setting sun, or perhaps it lays when the fire is new, the wood not yet truly caught, with the quiet joking as one and another fails to light it, or does it happen upon us when the fire is roaring, when it heats our skin, lights up our faces and is tended to carefully, or, truly, is it at the end, when the last of the log has been set within its seat, the char turning to coal, the night winding down, slowly, as the heat once drifted gaily to the sky and we know, the fire is pattering, its fuel is low and only the very coals warm as cinders, those leftovers that nonetheless burn?

For I see, when I experience this myself, that the fire is merely the place, the coming together, the hearth by which we gather. It is where we converse, where we talk of friends and hopes; frustrations and actions now regretted. To ask of I when the bonfire is best enjoyed, I say; now, whenever it is, the moment you are in, enjoy it as it is, for you are among friends. And truthfully, I see honesty in proclaiming that it is less the fire and more the friends, those cherished, trusted few, that make of the evening the time we enjoy. But do tell me - of these things, what do you make?

Thanks Poui.

Not even a little bit, except maybe a lot on the spirit of life.

I am feeling -really- good right now after spending a few hours just sitting by a fire and talking to my best-friend and her boyfriend(who is also a good friend), roasting hot dogs and talking about anything and everything.

Sound the horn and call the cry: "How many of them can we make die?"

You know, I've never actually had a bonfire the way you describe it. I do have a friend who had a firepit at her old house, and they'd light it up when they had large get-togethers. You always got a pretty large group hanging out around the fire then, and some great conversations certainly happened, but it was more in the sense of a side conversation happening on the periphery of a large party.

Thanks Poui.

Try just having a small fire pit - enough to put like 5 small little cut "logs" in it - and getting like 2-4 friends around. It's the most chill scene for just hanging out.

And I guess if you're into that, it's a cool place to relax with weed, buuuut I'm not. 8D

My servants never die

I've had a few small bonfires with family (my grandparents have a firepit), but nothing with just a group of friends

Bonfires are pretty nice and chill, yeah. Except when they're hot.

Also this topic title just makes me think of like... a Dark Souls social event. Or a Dark Souls general topic.

I used to gather around the bonfire with friends, but then I lost them to the darkness.

but yeah, bonfires are pretty fun, used to have them all the time back in the day but not so much nowadays. The best ones were always the ones with only a handful of people too, less of a chance of there being people I don't like.

Bonfires, fire pits, they are all wonderful things. I want a backyard one day with a lot of natural land and have a fire pit to just chill, be peaceful, cook a snack or dinner and drink some alcohol to relax even more. I always feel refreshed when I do have a natural fire, especially at night where it is nothing but crackling fire, wind in the treea and the chirp of crickets. So good. <3

Death comes to all of those who oppose me.

My bonfire's don't usually turn out that chill. It often looks more like a pagan ritual.
