Ok, so I just picked this up from GameStop by myself last week. This game looks and feels great. The world is massive in size, and I cannot wait for the epic battle at the end. I enjoy this game massively. I paid nothing for the Soundtrack, as well as, the Wolf Link Amiibo!! The soundtrack sounds as beautiful as it did back then.

Thoughts on this game? It would be greatly welcomed!!

I plan to get it eventually, but honestly, it barely looks better than the original (it's only really noticeable in a few locations from what I've seen). The game still looks washed out and depressing. Also, there's not enough new stuff for me to warrant spending $60 on it right now.

Saving my money for Star Fox Zero instead.

To be fair it's not a remake it's a remaster. Remasters are only upscaled to look good on modern hd televisions and only get a few nice touches in places it looks too bad like you pointed out. Few "HD versions" looks significantly different to the original such as FFX/X-2 HD.

True. I don't think they should charge full price for it, but eh.

Twilight Princess HD has plenty of new stuff, did you even check Nintendo's site about this game, Super Slash?

A number of very minor things that don't really matter much. Although TWW HD did the same thing, but I think TWW is a better game overall anyway. And TWW HD had the Swift Sail which made a pretty significant difference.

So, these are minor things now?

Full HD graphics
Wolf Link Amiibo letting you play a secret area
Hero Mode
Darker story
Epona lets Link hit enemies while riding on the horse anywhere at any time
Drastic differences in the characters than before
Beautiful Soundtracks throughout the entire game

wut? The story wasn't changed at all. No idea what you mean about the Epona thing...pretty sure you could fight on Epona in the original too.

There is no difference in the characters.

The soundtrack is the same, unless they happened to slightly modify a couple tracks like they did for TWW (Outset Island was different for example).

Also, as was already mentioned, the graphics got touched up in a few areas, not completely redone. And I've heard that the new dungeon is basically just another Cave of Ordeals, but with Wolf Link.

Remember how you can only use Epona on the GCN/Wii only for the final boss fight, Super Slash?

You can use the Master Sword now to slash at Enemies, on Hyrule field on Horseback, at anywhere at any time, no matter which enemies there are.

The story hasn't changed at all? Have you even played the game?

Full HD graphics make a lot of difference, Super Slash.

You could always ride Epona in Hyrule Field, not just in the final boss fight.

lol dude, if the story had changed, it'd be mentioned on the Zelda wiki and everywhere else.

That's not what I meant.

Remember how you could ride Epona into Battle against Ganondorf only when Ganondorf fights Midna and wins near the end of this game against her and crushes her helmet? That you could use Light Arrows and knock him off of his horse at the end?

Now, with this game, once Link gets the Master Sword, and while riding Epona on Hyrule field, you can slash at any enemy that gets in your way, besides doing that solely to Ganondorf at the end of the game, once Zelda is on Epona helping Link subdue Ganondorf with Light Arrows.

Now, you can slash at enemies at will on Horseback to clear large groups of enemies that stand in your way. This was not included in the other TP's. I believe that I have made myself quite clear now.

Yeah, I get that, but I thought that was possible in the other versions as well. Then again, I haven't played it in a few years.

Honestly as much as Twilight Princess is one of the few Nintendo games I have liked, this HD remaster seems like a cash grab.

Meh, who knows if the next Zelda will even be on Wii U or NX or whatever. Old fans will keep their eyes on it either way but by introducing WW and TP to players who never owned a GC or a Wii (or the 3DS remasters for those that never owned a N64) is a good way to get new fans while they take their time on the next "real" new zelda.

to throw in an amiibo is obvious cash grab but who cares if the fans gets something out of it and everyones happy

You've made yourself clear. The problem is that you're wrong.

Horseback combat was enabled from the moment you got Epona back, in both the GCN and Wii versions. In addition to being usable at any point with her, the game forces you to do such shortly after getting her back, when rescuing Colin from King Bulblin's kidnapping, and then defending the wagon on its trip back to Ordon Village.

If you're confused about the changes, the wiki article has a complete list. Notable ones include:

  • Significantly larger textures.
  • Lighting adjustments.
  • Ability to aim items with the gamepad.
  • The Cave of Shadows.
  • Hero Mode.
  • An item that alerts you to nearby Poes, along with tracking on the map.
  • Fewer Tears of Light to collect (16 -> 12).
  • Larger wallet sizes and an additional 4th wallet.
  • Amiibo usage.

I have no intention of getting the game. I've played it twice, once on GCN when it released, and once on Wii a few years ago, and neither playthrough particularly captured me or gave me incentive to play more. I hated combat as Wolf Link, so the addition of the Cave of Shadows does nothing to interest me (not to mention the reward is just a larger wallet).

Hero Mode is available from the start, which is nice, but not enough to make me want to play it again, particularly since I enjoy Wind Waker much more and have yet to get the rerelease of that, either.

Yeah I didn't say anything but I could have sworn the original game let you have combat on horseback.

I knew all about those, well before you even posted them all here for everyone. I am merely mistaken, not wrong, as I don't play the GCN or Wii much anymore.

I know about everything that has been changed, both major and minor things, too.

So, not getting my games, eh? That's fine. You probably shouldn't, it's your choice and yours alone.

I posted those because you were spreading incorrect information about what the game changes, and were adamant in your incorrectness. More than half of the changes you listed are false, or vast overexaggerations at best.

Incorrect information is far different than wrong information, HyrulianJedi. I am always open for correction. I am not infallible. Plus, I just got the game, so what do I know about my own games?
