So I'm moving to Canada in three months, and I can't quite take my current computer with me. Which is actually great since my current computer is turning 7 on June and the poor thing is barely functioning. So I gotta get myself a new one! I'm planning on finding a proper computer building place to get it done, but I want to come with a prepared list of nice parts so it'll look like I know my stuff and they won't screw me over with crap suggestions and things I don't need. My current computer is a desktop computer that was designed to be a high performance one - I use Photoshop and other design programs a ton, and I also play graphic intensive games (lots of hours of Skyrim and Mass Effect 3 and Dragon Ages). So that's what I want, a new high performance desktop computer for arts and games, with today's demanding system requirements in mind. I wanna play Dragon Age Inquisition and Fallout 4 on my new rig with minimal lag. Gotta be a beast. Also I heard everyone recommending good SSDs these days so like. Yeah gimme? I've been saving moneys for a good while now so I have the funds for something nice, but not like 3000 dollars worth of nice. Preferably less than 2000 dollars worth of nice. I don't even know how much computers cost in North America computers are so overpriced where I live. |

Make sure you get a case that's big enough to hide your manga so nothing explodes.

In all seriousness, I found https://www.reddit.com/r/buildapc useful as a starting place for learning about parts and whatnot. I've used this site in the past to get some ideas as well.

I was gonna recommend logical increments as a bouncing point but Draco beat me to it. |

I've used this site in the past to compare current GPUs and establish the value of whats on the market. They also run tests on CPUs, and both pieces of hardware should have charts that allow you to visualize the cost effectiveness of the hardware. Not sure what the Canadian dollar is at currently, but if its within your budget one of the best upgrades I've made in the past 6 years is purchasing a SSD. My boot time is near instant, and the programs installed on it start up incredibly fast. It was a huge quality of life improvement. Totally optional, but worth it. |

Unfortunately the Canadian dollar is doing terrible right now, it's pretty much the reason I haven't upgraded my GPU and CPU yet. It's also started to bounce back a little bit over the past couple of weeks though. 2000 is still more than enough for a good PC. An SSD is definitely a good investment, just something around 120GB or 240GB at the most should be good since you'll only need it for your OS and whatever games you're currently playing. Then you can buy a HDD later for all your storage needs if you need space for music, movies, shows and such. The videocard benchmark is indeed good to consider for purchasing a GPU, as you can see, GTX 970s are pretty top-tier but don't break the bank, probably the most recommended on the market as of now since comparably cheaper GPUs are much lower performance. |

If you can't find advice here or elsewhere online (though the reddit communities tend to be pretty good, in my experience), ask around for a good computer shop in your area. It might be faster and simpler to get a recommendation for shop that will work with you to build you what you want without getting into the technical stuff yourself, and I suspect that fewer PC shops are cheats than have that reputation. |

https://pcpartpicker.com/ This is a good place to try and piece together a good rig and to see look up parts to see how much a bought PC costs for just the parts. http://gpuboss.com/ Compare GPU's http://cpuboss.com/ For CPU's. http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/gpu-hierarchy,4388.html A nice list of the best to worst for GPU's you can find links to other things at the bottom. http://pcpartpicker.com/p/tXbHwP This is a very quick throw together to give you an idea of what you could be spending. There are most certainly things you can do to drop the price though. |

Ian's links, logical increments, r/buildapc, and tom's hardware is probably more than enough resources than you can use. [radio edit] reddit but r/buildapc I've heard is a friendly place. But if you're looking to play FO4 and maybe even 2017's biggest and best you're probably gonna need to go beastmode. Probably need i7 cpu and 780 ti at least. Good luck, I personally need to upgrade myself. Also SSDs are getting...cheaper...ish, so it may be a good investment. Dump your OS and big, big, big, BIG programs (photoshop, 50+gb games, etc) on there so it's not a pain every time you have to load the [radio edit]ing thing. |

Oh wow, thanks a whole banana bunches, guys! All these links and builds and stuff are helping me immensely in choosing the parts I want. As long as I don't suddenly spend all the money I've saved in a freak shopping accident, of course. Is Canada Computers a good place? They sound very nice and Canadian. My Japanese mangoes are under my bed where they belong. I will explode with muh mango if necessary.
