Temple of Kraden News: Welcome to the Temple of Kraden! ------ All worshipers may enter the Most Holy Place in single file, reflecting on the bountiful blessing Kraden hath provided unto him or herself since their last visit. Head coverings are not necessary, as true penitence and humility are found within. The Priests and Priestesses of Kraden endeavor to remind all that fresh orange juice is heavily preferred; only whores use frozen.
Greetings, heathen. Perhaps some fortuitous blessing of Kraden's grace hath led you to our humble Temple, or perhaps you are simply curious about this strange and wonderful cult. Should you be willing - and dare to hope - to achieve enlightenment, the door opens before you. Lo! Leave your old life behind! For once you step through, you become something more than just yourself.

You become a Kradenette.

Are you willing to make the rapturous plunge? Do you have what it takes?

so i'm super late to this thread (in terms of when it was started)

if I wanted Shantae, would I have a better experience on 3DS or steam?
If you have a controller to use on your PC, it's probably fine on either system. I played it on the 3DS, but I don't play games with the 3D effects turned on so I can't comment on that.

I generally don't use the 3D either lol

I in theory have a controller, but im not sure if i ever properly set it up ^^"
the one time I used it i think i just [radio edit]ed up all the controls lol
also should i start with Risky's Revenge or does it not matter?
(ive been wanting to play it for years when it came out on the DS but was never able to get it)

Wheey! I've became a human being!! I am very handsam!

You don't need to start with Risky's Revenge if you don't feel like it. The only plot you need to know from that game is the very ending, which The Pirate's Curse goes over anyway.

The shantae games aren't really that big on plot

Three of the four games (counting the yet-unreleased one) have almost the same plot, yes

I bought BlazBlue: Continuum Shift Extend at Satty's recommendation. Interested to try this one out.

Also purchased Tales of Zestiria on a complete whim. Also apparently Berseria is going to be a distant prequel to this game, so I might as well dive into the setting, right? I also hear it sucks, which means there's a good chance I'll enjoy it.

And yeah, the plot of the Shantae games isn't the primary focus. It's easy to dive in with any entry, though seeing how the gameplay progressed from the first game onward was pretty cool for me.

Thanks Poui.

Zestiria was as fun a romp as any Tales game ever is, though it had a few combat mechanics quirks that seemed a bit odd in retrospect, but I -did- have a bunch of fun with it on the overall.

I didn't like Zestiria at all. It's good for the first 10 or so hours, but then it's like the developers just said "[radio edit] it". It's a shame because it started off really good.

I have been told at length at how Zestiria really sucks, lol.

Man, I'd love to pick up games from the anime sale, but I have neither money nor time.

There was one thing that amazed me about Zestiria though. The fact that they actually made another Tales game that could compete with Graces for worst cast/plot.

Is Symphonia's PC port still a complete mess?

Bah, I thought Zestiria was fine. Not GREAT, but fine.
Its world maps made some progress over Xillia's generic overly-repeated maps, it had a number of excellent sound tracks (and the elemental dungeons made great use of theirs by maintaining it through the battles), and the combat was decent. It had plenty of problems to complain about, but overall, I thought it was an okay Tales game.

I recommended BBCSEX (best acronym) since it's a good place to enter the plot, has a wide cast, and there's a summary route of Calamity Trigger anyway. If he likes it, he can spend the extra bit for Chronophantasma for the next part of the story.

Ehh, Graces is one of my favorite Tales games personally. It's charming and fun.
