Temple of Kraden News: Welcome to the Temple of Kraden! ------ All worshipers may enter the Most Holy Place in single file, reflecting on the bountiful blessing Kraden hath provided unto him or herself since their last visit. Head coverings are not necessary, as true penitence and humility are found within. The Priests and Priestesses of Kraden endeavor to remind all that fresh orange juice is heavily preferred; only whores use frozen.
Greetings, heathen. Perhaps some fortuitous blessing of Kraden's grace hath led you to our humble Temple, or perhaps you are simply curious about this strange and wonderful cult. Should you be willing - and dare to hope - to achieve enlightenment, the door opens before you. Lo! Leave your old life behind! For once you step through, you become something more than just yourself.

You become a Kradenette.

Are you willing to make the rapturous plunge? Do you have what it takes?

Maybe learning to drive, regretably sitting through an awkward birds and the bees speech, morals, behavior, randomness, or even things that they never said directly.

I think the majority of lessons I took to heart in my upbringing were from my dad and grandmother. My dad taught me tips about gardening, finances, while my grandmother instilled manners and behavioral skills within me. In my mother's case, I think everything I learned from her was how not to behave in life.

My godfather also taught me a lot of wise things, and is fond of saying famous quotes with meaning behind them when I ask him for advice.

My parents taught me how to interact with the world. My mom taught me how to be professional. She also answers all the dumb questions I have about things like filing taxes and whatnot. My dad taught me how to be assertive and how to be a leader.

Death comes to all of those who oppose me.

I'd say I learned quite a bit. Mostly through observation than lesson though I'd think.

Father taught me compassion, patience, finding happiness in the simple and small things in life. He also taught me the dangers of alcoholism, as well as some practical skills like fishing.

Mother did her best to show me the kind of person I wouldn't want to become.

My mom basically taught me everything in life in terms of morals/ethics, determination and hard work, compassion and problem resolution, sense of humour in parts, etc.
My stepfather, by being a hardass, taught me independence and a desire to move away from home 8D Also showed me the existence of bigotry in the world. He also gave me an enthusiasm for sports and an appreciation for beer, though.

My dad taught me courtesy, kindness, and discretion. He taught me how to know when to speak up, how to avoid dwelling on insignificant things, how to move past rough patches in life by appreciating the things I have. Perspective, basically. I can't say I've learned all of those lessons yet. It's an ongoing effort. Also, he gave me an extremely idiosyncratic sense of humor, but I think that's genetic.

My mom taught me empathy, how to present myself to society, how to just overall be considerate. There's a lot of crossover with my dad, here. She taught me many of the same things, but in a Mom Voice.

Not a lot of practical lessons, though. Like, don't ask me to change a tire.

Let's just wait and see what happens.

Hoo boy.

I could give any number of snarky answers. Instead I'll let my mere presence in this thread speak to those who know me already and spare the newer people the burden of knowledge.

I kinda feel this way as well, if we're considering my aunt and grandmother my parents (my mother has been divorced from my dad for years, and although I still see my dad on a daily basis, he moved out years ago too). I practically worshipped them as a kid, but now that I'm older...yeah, I can see that they honestly do more harm than good most of the time.
