Obviously a multiple choice answer isn't going to be enough to explain your thoughts but have at it. Are our outcomes predetermined or do we mold our own path? Answers over the years have varied wildly (much like the definitions of free will and fate to the individual), some using a scientific aproach, or even religious foundations to support their view. What do you think? |

Not gonna lie, I misread the poll title from the front page as "Do you believe in tree..." and had to do a double take |

"Free will" is molded by your experiences, environment, personality, etc. But within all of that framework that limits your choices, you do have a choice. Fate/Destiny is dumb |

Nothing in life is free. However, if there's a will, there's a way. |

I believe that fate has brought all of us Kradenettes together. We share a common destiny. Or maybe it was Fate that brought us together... |

It's philosophically interesting, but I think it's practically meaningless - since free will and determinism would be perceived the same in daily life, so you can't tell the two apart. Ofc morality/ethics are based on the existence of free will/responsibility for their actions, but as Boyd said, it's good to understand how environment/socio-economics limits the actions you can freely take. Scientifically the universe is prooobably non-deterministic on the quantum level, but who knows what it is on the macro level? There's still stuff that points to the universe being deterministic, but I believe it's still up in the air. In religious terms I believe it's a both/and thing, where you freely make your decisions, and God witnesses them after you've made them (from His eternal position). |

This was something I was interested in seeing, primarily due to how people percieve free will and fate. I personally think both blur the lines, between absolutes like death, old age (inability to thwart them, ultimate fate), and how much influence is taken from society that affects your overall actions, thoughts. (Think someone severely impaired due to extended captivity during formative years), can they truly have free will when they can barely function? And I was also reading things on neuroscience and free will (though hotly debated) some experiments have concluded that unconscious processes have much more influence than we think. Science overall has been giving me thoughts, as in causality/cause and effect, like, this happened so this happens, and creating a domino effect that could cascade intk manipulating free will. Even down to a universal level, the big bang, how everything was created and keeps expanding. How perfect conditions create life, fate/destiny of our planet (if you believe in evolution.) Then religion, God having a 'plan' for us all, yet stating you can choose your own path, whether not to sin, help others, etc. Really, it boils down, to me; things happen for a reason, but at the same time we can, even if just slightly, change the outcome. |

Well, Dark Souls 3 isn't out yet, so he might be trying to cram something in before that happens. Or was that Urobuchi? I keep forgetting. |

Pretty much this. Even the most limited individual in life still ultimately has a choice as to their actions. |
