Temple of Kraden News: Welcome to the Temple of Kraden! ------ All worshipers may enter the Most Holy Place in single file, reflecting on the bountiful blessing Kraden hath provided unto him or herself since their last visit. Head coverings are not necessary, as true penitence and humility are found within. The Priests and Priestesses of Kraden endeavor to remind all that fresh orange juice is heavily preferred; only whores use frozen.
Greetings, heathen. Perhaps some fortuitous blessing of Kraden's grace hath led you to our humble Temple, or perhaps you are simply curious about this strange and wonderful cult. Should you be willing - and dare to hope - to achieve enlightenment, the door opens before you. Lo! Leave your old life behind! For once you step through, you become something more than just yourself.

You become a Kradenette.

Are you willing to make the rapturous plunge? Do you have what it takes?

Eh, truth be told...

I burned out hard a couple years back. I suffered problems with depression and related issues. I stopped going to school and got kicked out because of it. I stupidly kept everything to myself and lied to everyone about how things were going with my life.

Then things kind of came to head a few months ago. The truth came out and I started getting the help I needed.

Anyway, things are better now. I'm still working doing part-time doing software development for the same company I'd been doing on-and-off contracts with for the past four or five years. Probably going back to school in fall of 2016 to try and finish a Comp Sci degree.

Still listening to a crapload of metal. \m/
Got into watching streams on Twitch a lot. There's one small-time caster in particular that I really enjoy. Managed to get him to give Golden Sun a try a few weeks back as part of a Patreon fulfillment -- he seemed to enjoy the game (got up through the Bandit fight in Kalay) and I'm hoping he'll return to it.

Hmm.. I think that sums up most things.

How's things been here at the Temple?

Sorry to hear things were rough for you, Joe. But I'm glad that you were able to face it with everyone, and I hope that together you can get going on the right track. =) And it sounds like you're on the way, so I'm happy for you!

Contract work is great, especially since it's building your resume as well! Between that and finishing the Comp Sci degree, I'm sure you'll be able to be able to land something pretty cool. ^^

I approve of this, what bands and/or subgenres have you been into the most?

Oh geez... I listen to a lot of different stuff, although I do skew towards the melodic, but not the super "flowery" stuff. Power metal, progressive metal, melodic death metal, melodic black metal, folk metal, atmospheric black metal, technical death metal...
The easiest thing might be to just link my last.fm page:

I'm actually driving to another city 6 hours away on Friday to go see Blind Guardian (one of my top three favorite bands). They are the last one of my top three favorite bands I need to check off for seeing live. (My top three being Blind Guardian, Kamelot, and Symphony X.)

ah, cool. I tend to lean more towards the melodic genres as well, melodeath, folk, power and prog are great. I'm not too big on black metal overall but I love the more "adventurous" black metal bands such as Arcturus, Borknagar, Solefald, Sigh and Ulver

I assume you mean more symphonic and gothic metal by "flowery"? I happen to like heavy symphonic elements but to each their own. Blind Guardian would be great to see live, as would Symphony X. Kamelot is the only one of those I saw live as they opened for Nightwish when I saw them, Tommy Karevik is one of my favourite singers for his work with Seventh Wonder but I definitely prefer Khan's vocals for Kamelot's style.

We rarely get any shows where I live so I haven't seen many bands live, Seeing Nightwish and Kamelot was a 10 hour drive but luckily Kalmah is coming close to where I live in April so I'm really excited to see them, since they were one of the first melodic death metal bands I got into.
