It's kind of like this. You check the persons credentials against what you have to check for. As you go the list of credentials gets harder and you're objective is to feed your family which you get paid for at the end of each day by how many passports you accept/deny in a given day. So it's forcing you to move faster while trying to check and increasingly difficult number of things as you go along. |

The first day may be simple but by the end, you're doing something like this: Check their passport to see what country they are from. Make sure that the province listed both exists and is a part of that country. Check that the stamp on the passport matches that country's symbol. Check that their name matches on all provided documents. If it does not match, ask for clarification in case of a marriage name change or other circumstance, then take fingerprints to make sure they match what is registered for this person. Make sure height and weight match official recordings. If weight does not match, run an x-ray to check for hidden contraband materials. Check that their stated purpose for travel, destination, and length of stay match what is recorded on their travel permit. If the purpose of travel is work, make sure that the stated occupation matches the work permit occupation. Make sure the stamps on the travel and work permits are not counterfeit. Make sure the image and gender on the passport matches the persons physical appearance. If the gender does not, run x-ray to ensure genitals match. If the appearance does not, run fingerprints. It's been a while since I played so I've probably forgotten a bunch of stuff too. And while you're doing all this you also have to be watching for potential terrorists or demonstrators, and be prepared to fire at them if necessary. You will also receive more unique special situations related to the plot. And of course you're under a time limit, and your income is directly related to how many of the arrivals you process in a day. |

You buy a game so you can do pretty much what I get paid to do at a data entry job. |

Yep, the pictures are pretty low-quality, and you can change a setting so that they still have underwear on if you want. But the whole game is supposed to be an indictment of US Customs and immigration policy, and taking lots of naked x-rays in the name of "security" has been a major point of contention there. |

I was thinking more along the lines of transphobia. But, yeah, still an accurate depiction of real life, sadly. |

Well yes, that's definitely an element of it too, after all there's mistreatment of transgender individuals in immigration as well. In the overall context of the game it's definitely not praising these actions. |
