So I've been a pretty avid player of this game since the closed alpha invites went out and I was lucky enough to get one. It's essentially Blizzard's take on a MOBA, but it's fast and action packed with a lot less of the usual farming elements of League and Dota and such. Plays almost more like a mix of those and Smash Bros, which is especially true since all the characters are a grab bag of characters from other Blizzard games, like Diablo and Thrall and Raynor and what have you. Either way, it's pretty fun and I play largely that instead of any other equivalent. It just hit open beta a day or two ago, so anyone's free to jump in and play. Anybody else here play or are looking to play? |

It looks like it could be pretty fun. League often bugs me with how slow its games can be. I just don't know about getting into another moba >_> |

I've played it a couple of times over the last few weeks with my friend who's a huge Blizzard fan. I like a lot of their design choices with this game (The maps are really good and I like how they tried to put focus on both direct PvP and PvP over objectives) but there's a ton of terrible design choices as well. Removing gold and making exp the only currency isn't a good thing and making exp global is the biggest factor why I don't think this game will have a competitive following like LoL or Dota2. |

Well it's picking up a decent competitive following thus far. Staying power is hard to judge, and it'll never hit League levels, but it's something. I don't mind the removal of gold since it speeds up the games considerably and keeps it from being a farming game at first which determines how well the game goes even if it extends into another half hour. To each their own, I suppose, but I've just grown tired of how League games have this habit of going on for twenty minutes after the game is already decided. Heroes games that go badly are over before laning would be in League, then on to the next. Doesn't hurt to give it a shot, Leaf. |

I've been playing this a little with PK and Ras. It definitely won't replace League for me, but it's nice for the occasional casual game. |

I kinda want to play this, but two things stop me: The fact that I haven't played a Blizzard Game in nearly six years and the fact that I've played Smite, a MOBA different enough from all the other ones that I'm not sure I could go back to "regular" MOBAs. |

Playing previous Blizzard games helps make the characters and faces memorable, but is by no means required, so you might as well give it a shot. The Smite comparison is an understandable issue and I can't really help with that, though I CAN point you in the direction of the game Gigantic, which looks sort of like Heroes meets Smite. |

I dunno, I might try it anyway; do you get any heroes for free like you do in Smite? |

There's a free rotation of five heroes that changes every week ala League, which increases to seven as you level up your account, but I don't believe you unlock any hero for free to my knowledge. That might change, don't think it's planned to though. |
