Like don't get me wrong, I'm sure it'll be a decent game and I'll probably end up enjoying it just for the core concept, but... Metroid...

*sighs heavily*

What would've been neat would have been to pair it with a new Metroid game, where you play as Samus and do all the normal Metroidy things, but are also in contact with a team of other hunters that are taking care of auxiliary tasks - somewhat to how Corruption was done.

Then you have this game, where you play one of the other hunters, going through a series of events that compliments and ties into the other game. They've already experimented with making various playable hunters, and this would be a great way to make use of that.

Or we could just play as faceless Federation mooks playing clean-up after Samus leaves places.
Also I really doubt I'll be getting it. It's not the type of game I want to play on a 3DS, and I doubt the plot will make me overlook that.

I just wish Next Level Games wasn't making it, because I really wanted a new Punch Out from them. Or Mario Strikers.

So is it multiplayer based or something? That's the vibe I got from the short trailer...

Maaan, if I would be hyped for Xenoblade Chronicles X if it wasnt for the fact that many of the guys who imported the japanese version have said that it's as interesting as a single player MMO. RIP.

Seems pretty straightforward to me, it's Mario & Luigi x Paper Mario
I suppose it just strikes me as Nintendo wringing the rag of inspiration for the last few drops. I mean: "hey, our Mario RPGs come in two distinct flavors, so let's make a game about it!" But maybe it'll be good? I actually really liked Sticker Star once I got around to playing it, after all.

Other than that, Nintendo's E3 was bizarre. NeoGAF was having a complete meltdown comprised mostly of NOT LIKE THIS gifs, which I actually agreed with. Plenty of new additions to beloved franchises, but in really weird, gimmicky forms. But I'll definitely be getting Fire Emblem: Fates! And I'll pick up the Mario Tennis demo, provided there will be one, just to see Camelot's first foray into HD for myself. :awe:

Dark Souls 3, Fire Emblem and maybe Fallout 4 will be going on my "to buy" list for sure. Oh, and Shantae: Half-Genie Hero. That's a given. Skipping out on Assassin's Creed.

The new metroid looked like it could've been kinda cool, then they went into the tacked-on minigame shit that makes you realize "this game is going to suck."

True. I doubt I'll be picking that one up, sadly.

I'm watching the Treehouse footage of the new Mario RPG and it just occurred to me that it is brilliant. What a clever concept, now that I'm seeing it in action.

I wasn't following the game, but I laughed at this

Okay, so I saw the Shenmue 3 game hit its funding goal, and when I checked it was actually at $2.9 million.
Can someone explain this to me? I'd never heard of the series and the trailer was cringingly bad (apart from the water graphics, holy crap).

Dreamcast series that pretty much gave birth to the open world/sand box games we know today. Also pioneered QTEs as a concept. Shenmue II ended on a huge cliffhanger 14 years ago and people wanted to see it concluded; 1 sold a million IIRC so it has a very dedicated fanbase.

Oh man, so many things I missed today. Stupid exams. :'( (to be expected since Square presented today, of course...)

Firstly, HOLY SHIT ALL THE KHIII STUFF. That short video actually showed so much gameplay. Confirmed a lot of theories, particularly how the Disney Land rides seem to be appearing as some sort of summon attack. But, it didn't look like the spells have been programmed to take MP yet, so we still can't be sure on the purpose of the EX gauge. :S Still, much hype. Also that little bit of story stuff they showed.

The mobile game also looks a lot like Chain of Memories, which should be interesting to say the least. I'll reserve judgements for now, though.

FFVII had... An update, I think? O.o I don't know why anyone would want the iOS version, surely the system will have some trouble keeping up. I'm guessing they want to eventually have the full line-up on portable devices or something. (which I can't really blame them - certainly a good way to get more money by nostalgia)

This was also a lot more I expected from Square, tbh. I thought they'd save everything for their September (?) conference, so this is quite juicy for me.

The Metroid game... I reckon seems fairly good, all that's really left for me is to kind of think maybe it should've been named something else though? Would certainly remove my "eh" response to them claiming it's a Metroid game.

And finally, THAT XENOBLADE CHRONICLES X TRAILER. AHHHH, MY HYPE, IT'S EVERYWHERE. I am so tempted to buy a Wii U just for this game... (hopefully Nintendo give me other reasons to get one olol)

That picture is amazing, and also fairly accurate. I'm still intrigued up to a point, because my fanboyism knows few bounds... but I think it would have created a hell of a lot less misconceptions if they'd called it Persona x FE rather than SMT.

Yeah it's based on the slightly graphically updated version released on steam some year ago.

EDIT version 3: Okay so now I'm not really sure, because the site linked above says "During the game, the player must make the choice between Hoshido and Nohr. Each path will offer a completely different storyline with a different set of characters to recruit as allies." which makes it sound like it's NOT two versions, and this "press release" Kotaku cites is not linked or sourced.
Oh, hey, found the problem.
Are we back in the year 2010 or something? Kotaku hasn't been shitty for so long now. And in this case they turned out to be right anyway.

The Metroid game looks not good, but I wouldn't waste much more time complaining about it, it's not like it existing prevents the next "real" Metroid from getting announced at any time.

There are strong signs that Retro is working on another unannounced Metroid game... or so we hope. We just know that whatever big project they're working on, it isn't Donkey Kong related this time around, so here's hoping.

Also I still wouldn't go to Kotaku. As said above, lots of clickbait, lots of pointless and poorly researched articles. There are better places to draw information and articles from.
