Latest issue of Famitsu reveals Star Ocean 5 Not sure if there are any Star Ocean fans here, but thought I'd share this here anyways. Official announcement will be coming later today (the 15th). Pretty excited for this myself, especially since it'll be on PS4. Liking a couple of the battle details that have been revealed as well. The game is set to take place between the events of Star Ocean 2 and Star Ocean 3. |

This is pretty intriguing. I didn't care too much for 4, but the earlier games were pretty solid so I'll likely pick this up if I have the system for it. Hoping there's at least a little bit of stuff dealing with other planets and such, rather than just being on the one undeveloped planet. |

Yeah, SO4 was kind of a mess. Though I remember reading something that said the director didn't even want to make SO4, but he was practically being forced to do it. Now that there's a new director doing it, hopefully they'll get the series back on track and more along the lines of what made 1-3 so good. I forgot to mention it in my first post, but the game will be on PS3 as well as PS4. Also the reveal trailer was released. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OXsqSLxSt68 |

I wanted to like 4, I really did, but it just had so many little things that held it back and dragged on my nerves. Like the little girl character's VA... sweet Kraden I wanted to punch my TV every time she spoke. Here's hoping that this one has a stronger showing, since I've always quite liked the series concepts. PS3 as well huh? Neat, means I'm not forced to buy a new console any time soon, even if I am planning to eventually. |

Oh yeah, Lymle's English VA was god awful. Or at least the way they had her do the voice was awful (same VA that voiced Nowi in Fire Emblem Awakening, and I don't remember Nowi being that bad). The only reason I was able to put up with it is because Reimi was voiced by one of my favorite VAs (Laura Bailey), otherwise I might have played the game on mute just to avoid hearing Lymle. One of my biggest problems with 4 was them removing the ability to change targets in battle. I just don't understand why you would take out that mechanic in that type of a battle system. Hopefully this mistake is not repeated in SO5. |
