On several occasions I've tried to copy and paste documents, originally written in google docs or another word processor, into my reply field or blog here at the Temple. For some reason that I'm guessing has to do with Zetaboards's coding, all of my apostrophes and quotation marks show up as ’ As in It's becomes It’s Is there any workaround for this? Is it a font-related issue? Or am I cursed to retype everything from scratch when I want to make a long reply/blog entry? |

I don't know what causes it, but if you copy/paste from notepad, that issue won't happen. |

I believe it's smart quotes. What I usually do is copy a quotation mark from Zetaboards, then ctrl+h all quotation marks (both kinds) in the documents, and replace all with the Zetaboards variety. It definitely is a pain, though. |

...And today I learned what smart quotes are. :| That's the problem, turns out. When I go in to the text field and replace the slanting quotation marks with " or ', the problem ceases. EDIT: Yeah, Satty, I was looking for a "find and replace" extension for Chrome just a while ago. My previous blog entry had to go through manual replacement before posting, which took, like, half an hour X___x |

I think you can disable smart quotes in your word processor as well, but that's a bit more of a drastic step, if easier in the long run. |

Oh! You can specifically disable them in Google docs. Problem solved. Thanks for potentially saving me hours of editing~ EDIT: Holy [radio edit] that took a total of ten seconds.

I always disable smart quotes when I can. They are such a pain. :| |
