The Crystal anime is overall pretty weak, though it has good music and good acting at important moments. -The Shitennou don't need to die to redeem Crystal's Senshi/Shitennou plot tumor, though I'll doubt they'll survive the arc since the writers probably won't make THAT signifcant of a change from the manga. The second half of episode ten was still an abortion, though. -Linda Ballantyne was not terrible. -Linda Young-Chambers was not terrible either. -On the subject of voice actors, I don't think it's necessary to get someone for a dub with the closest voice to the original as possible. As long as the dub voice actor's interpretation fits with that character, it's perfectly fine. -Most modern dubs are okay at worst. -The Utena dub of the show is mediocre at worst, and the movie dub is wonderful. -Juri Arisugawa is not blameless and people need to stop screaming social justice buzzwords at people whenever they disagree. There's a difference between excusing Shiori and the other characters that were shitty to her and calling out her own shitty behavior. -~~The consent in Utena episode 33 was dubious at best, holy shit. Stop making it out to be consensual or using pictures of Utena from that scene as "sexy photos".~~ -Madoka is really fantastically made show, but I can't really blame people from getting anti-feminist readings from it. I can't blame people for getting feminist readings from it though either. -Homura's been through a lot and her morality is complex, but she's definitely done a few things wrong. Sorry.

It seems to me that the best dubs try to go for their own feel and style rather than try to imitate what the japanese do, which is going to be inherently foreign and grating for most of the western world. See: every teen or younger girl in any anime ever.
