There's also that older guy. It's more of an orgy than a harem. |

sounds gross. Anyways, I've never seen a good harem/ecchi series so I can't contribute a recommendation. |

I honestly love shitposting, it's just the kind of good-natured, tongue-in-cheek teasing/playfulness I love. >____> |

Idk, even if not it's not usually personal. Like, Miral firehosing over literally everything and Boyd's rageboner over Madoka Magica and Saber are what I expect from them, so it's like the punchline to a familiar joke. That's what it means to have personas -- or in other words, patterns of behaviour you expect from your friends. It makes me, at least, laugh. I don't take it personally, and I don't expect Boyd or Miral to take it personally when I shitpost their stuff either. There's a kind of trust implicit in it that I really like. But, I do recognize it's not for everyone. At least, though, it almost never extends to personal attacks or insults, so it's not breaking any rules. |

okay so here's my unpopular opinions -pretty much all the stuff I've watched is okay. just okay. not spectacular, not godly, not shitty, not terrible -anime can just be okay without being distilled into total shit or total jizz -same applies to characters -characters who use the word 'Senpai" almost a dozen times in three minutes are actually total shit, however (for the unaware, the small list of things I've watched: Haruhi, TTGL, Madoka, Fate/Zero, Rebellion, Nanoha) |

True, I understand that completely. I feel like I don't really know them on a personal level though, so it doesn't quite have the same effect for me. I really need to talk to you guys some more on Skype or something. |

The original Sailor Moon anime pales in comparison to the manga. |

Hmm, unpopular opinions regarding Anime/Manga... Well for one I actually prefer the dub of Haruhi, I tend to get flack for that... I honestly don't care too much for KLK, even after being a big fan of TTGL. In fact most series that come out and gain quick followings I either can't get into or simply don't like from either an aesthetic or storytelling standpoint. Shingeki no Kyojin, RWBY, Aldnoah etc.. The only ones that have pulled me in are continuations of existing series which were already considered classics. Things like the new seasons of Mushishi or JoJo's. Then there's the series that the fandoms try to make look bigger or more interesting than they really are. I like Eva and Madoka on a small level, but those Animes are WAY too overhyped in my opinion. Oh and don't get me started on Fairy Tail or the numerous "stuck in an MMO" series that are out now. Maybe I just have a weird sense of "Anime Elitism" because I grew up watching things like Cowboy Bebop, Kimba, MSG and such. Man my friends hate me for making comparisons to older stuff so often. |

Objectively, yes. But if there's a market... I mean crap, look how long Naruto lasted and it's only just now breathed its last breath. Hated all of that, too. |

A lot of really popular things have some kind of mass appeal regardless of quality or have some big names or lots of advertisement behind it that sparked its fame. Although it's not the "popular opinion", on the internet you'll probably find more people that dislike those shows than ones that like it unless you delve into the more "pub" places like MAL that're basically filled with the lowest common denominator. |

Indeed, and I'm sure I would come across said people if I actually looked. However my exposure to people on the internet is mostly limited by the amount of time and the interest of the communities I manage, all of which tend to favour series such as those. However those are the shows with mass appeal as you said, making the opinions of people like us unpopular which is exactly what this thread's title is all about, no? We could hammer on the objective quality of these series all day, but in the end we're still a minority comparatively. |

I guess my point was more that for a thread like this, it's a little tricky to qualify what's "popular" or "unpopular" since, for example, it's a general consensus on Temple that Sword Art Online is garbage so nobody's going to be surprised if somebody were to post that as an "unpopular opinion". Also time for unpopular opinions: -Evangelion isn't very good and basically every single "clone" of it is much better. -Mecha is the greatest genre to grace the Earth. -A lot of dubs are mediocre at worst. -CGi isn't the cancer killing anime. -Children's shows and toy commercials are two of the blessings of the medium. Not even going to get into "____ is good but not nearly as great as the zealous fanbase thinks it is" because those are obvious and I'd be here for hours doing it. |
