Welcome to the temple, Legato. Good to see more musicians around here, I primarily play guitar and bass, although I dabble with a couple of other instruments every now and then. Versailles is a great band, I have their albums Noble and Holy Grail, both of them get a fair amount of listens from me to say the least. |

@sinae thanks!! That's pretty neat you play more than one instrument. What kind of music do you play btw? Haven't really heard of their other albums, do you like noble better or is holy grail pretty good too? It's always cool seeing them play and seeing the passion. |

I initially preferred Noble, but Holy Grail has grown on me enough that I like it more than Noble now. Holy Grail may not be as varied in songwriting as Noble as it tends to stick to straight-up symphonic power metal but it's a very solid album within those limits with a lot of catchy melodies and good musicianship. I also like the basslines more in Holy Grail, although both bassists are good. Noble has tight basslines with some nice fills here and there, but the bass playing in Holy Grail has a lot more presence and melody to it. I mainly play metal, particularly progressive, power, melodeath, and folk metal. I play other genres occasionally, but it probably wouldn't hurt to branch out more on my part tbh. |

@sinae That sounds different, kinda interested in how it sounds now. So you play a little of everything? That's impressive! I hear you on learning new things, it's always great to get that experience. I'm guessing you write songs too? |

Well, I play some other genres such as classic rock, video game music(ofcourse), j-pop, and a little bit of classical but there's plenty of genres out there that I have next to no familiarity with such as jazz, bluegrass, flamenco and plenty of others. I haven't been writing much lately because I've been busy with school but I recently started jamming with a friend of mine(who plays guitar, keyboards, and sings) for the first time in ages so that should inspire me to pick up writing stuff more frequently again. Your avatar is indeed amazing btw. |

Thanks and yeah it's alot more fun playing with people. What are you studying btw? What kind of music do you write? You'll get there, it just takes time. If you haven't got to blues yet you might really like it, it's pretty fun! |

Actually just graduated, took Electronics Engineering Technology. I tend to write(wait for it) metal. I have done some instrumental, more video game-esque stuff and some electronica on the side but I try to be a perfectionist with it and end up getting nowhere usually, which doesn't happen so much in a band-environment. Looking into more blues doesn't sound like a bad idea. |

Metal, that's pretty cool. Sorry for my ignorance that would have to do with computers or is it something else? Congrats btw!! That sounds like it can get pretty frustrating having to have everything perfect. What kind of video game music you like to play? Final fantasy XIII-2 has some pretty good songs but some say ffxiii soundtrack is better. |

Hard to pick between XIII and XIII-2! Though actually, I'd say XIII straight-up. <_< I think XIII-2 has some fantastic standout tracks, but since it's done by so many different composers, there's some huge inconsistency (that Engrish rapping....... so bad). XIII is one of my favourite OSTs. Between Lake Bresha and Nascent Requiem (being probably my favourite FF final boss theme), it just holds together very well. I think only the FFIX and FFXII OSTs beat it for being more well-rounded. Gapra Whitewood, that's FFXIII too, right? I think "Full Speed Ahead!" is probably my favourite XIII-2 song. dat bass. dat violin. dat everything |

Engrish? Which ones are you talking about? It's been a while since I listened to it. Full speed ahead yeah that song was awesome, also plains of eternity was pretty good too. Song of the farseers had a lot of emotion in it from what I remember. The Gapra Whitewood - Final Fantasy XIII [OST]: http://youtu.be/NX94tfBsgcU<is this what you're talking about? Ffix has some pretty good soundtracks from what I remember, had a pretty good storyline too. |

Yup, that's the one! And I guess it's less Engrish and more white person rapping cheesy lyrics. Unseen Intruder (Aggressive Mix) |
