Ugh, I unlocked the "obtain 10 types of Smash Run Powers" challenge the second I hit the power button to shut the system off. And I had lingered on the main menu for five seconds beforehand, just to be sure nothing would happen, lol. Now I don't have it anymore.

Can you hammer it? Or possibly earn another smash power to make it recheck, maybe?

Also, now that I'm de-rusting and working the CPU level up, landing Warlock Punches is so incredibly satisfying. Ganondorf seems more of himself than usual, which is to say it seems like they kicked up the knockback power in compensation for doing very little for his still shitty recovery. The "dive" does seem to travel higher but that could be the illusion of everything being smaller to my eyes.

I wish sakurai had made the omega stages "hazardless" rather than "featureless." There would be a lot of great stages then, with some actual diverse platform layouts.
Completely agree. There are a lot of stages that would've been really cool if they weren't riddled with fun-destroying hazards. The FD versions aren't bad, but I would prefer more variety.

Some more Ganondorf notes for everyone~

Warlock Punch and presumably any variant on it (including the Explosive Side Kick of the Mii Brawler and Falcon Punches) will totally whiff at point-blank range. It has a short forward-shifting component like it always has, and this will take you past the opponent if they're right against you.

Flame Choke is still, so far as I can tell, completely incapable of actually KOing someone outside of crazy niche circumstances. It does seem to have more horizontal travel to it than before, however. I've unlocked a variant that's nearly useless for travel, but throws the opponent away instead of dropping them to the ground, which might be somebody's cup of tea.

Dark 'Dive' is pretty much as it used to be, except that now Ganondorf holds his hand out in front of the grabbed opponent and shocks them with sith lightning. This is technically a downgrade but functionally I don't feel any difference except maybe it flies higher.

He's still hella slow and barely jumps. Not expecting great things from him unless people really, really work his basic attacks. And I think his neutral A might be slower than it was in Brawl, kek.

EDIT: OH MY GOD THOSE TROLLING BASTARDS GAVE HIM A SWORD MOVE. HE HAS A FREAKING SWORD MOVE.

No, I was the only one hammering on it in that scenario. It then struck one of those pole-things in Sonic's level, broke, and Sonic immediately activated his final smash.
The save point pole is "owned" by whoever hit it last, a fact that I abuse when on the stage. So if the Smash Ball hits it, it's as if Sonic hit it directly.
Oh, I just noticed this! That would explain what happened, definitely.

And I just got the challenge achievement again, HFS, after doing another run through Classic mode, so thankfully that matter's all cleared up. I would have used a hammer on it, but I'm saving them all for what I'm assuming will be some pretty obtuse future challenges. =P

Figured I'd leave this little tip here for achievement junkies:

On the challenge boards you'll notice there's a challenge requiring getting a 100 hit combo in Training. An easy way to do this is to select Ness against Bowser and go to FD. Set the % to 999, and grab Bowser, then just spam the grab button. You should be able to get well over 100 hits easily. Repeat this method with other characters for the 400 cumulative hit total challenge.

I thought it was 10. I did it with the Mii Brawler's standard attack.

There's 3 pages of challenges. You have to finish one before you get to the next, but challenges already done will immediately be completed.

Also, hammers don't carry over between pages, so feel free to use them to finish up stupid challenges on a page.

Yeah, the 100 combo and 400 cumulative challenges are on the third page. There's also a 40 one on the 2nd page which will be done in the process.

That's why you always go to the home menu before you power off.

Oh ok then, I was actually beginning to think that those were the only ones...

Has anyone unlocked any of the F-Zero songs yet? (The ones that don't come with the stage)

Three games into For Glory mode, and there are two things to note:

1) I think the lag I've experienced with friendly matches are due to problems on other people's ends. The matchmaking in For Glory seems to pair me up with people who I have at least an okay connection with.

2) People in For Glory are open books. "Okay, this Yoshi does nothing but either jump over me and down-B or side-B." "This Greninja does nothing but try to get underneath me and up-smash." Absolutely no variation. It's crazy. They keep doing it after they get smacked up for it 4 or more times.

Well you can't just expect people to be good!

Did they even say there was a matchmaking system?

^ Luck of the draw. I had some pretty spiffy matches like... 1 out of 10 players...

3280ft on Homerun Contest Challenge was a pain. Luckily beat it with over 3800ft with Ness.
EDIT: Hell, it only took 3 tries to get all those red targets and the 200,000 score for target smash...

Personally, I'd like to see how I'd hold up against people not matchmade onto For Glory.

When I say matchmaking, I'm not sure it's a skill-based matchmaking. I think they're matching people with relatively decent pings to each other.

Just unlocked Duck Hunt Duo. My god, this character is creative.

Also I've had my fair share of good and scrubby For Glory players. Connection can be spotty with a noticeable amount of pauses. :U

15 games with at least 5 different opponents. 13 wins. Rosalina/Luma and Lucina have secured themselves as my mains.

Luma is like the ultimate in disjointed hitboxes. Saves me from grabs, combos, sure-kills. Makes edgeguarding safe and easy. People seem to forget he's there, ready to smash their face while they wait to juggle Rosalina.

Well, For Glory mode is supposed to keep track of your rank, isn't it? It might have actual matchmaking components, but you haven't played enough to get matched against people of equal skill yet (or better skill, for that matter). Only 15 games is a pretty small sample size, esp if it was only 5 different opponents. You can't expect the matchmaking system to be perfect right away.
