Thanks Poui.

Daily reminder that Origins came out in 2009. Just five short years ago and already two sequels.

Who said you could play it before Christmas though, brother?

Anyways, 3 games in 5 years really isn't that surprising, in fact having them be released close together is nice for something that lets you carry over files and/or follows the story/world-building of the previous entries.

Thanks Poui.

It's more a comment of surprise that in this day and age, they managed to release three AAA games in a five year time span, with all three being pretty good (2's dubious quality notwithstanding; I think the general consensus is "It's great, just not Origins") which, in an era where games are receiving multi-year development times (I think some games have been in development since before Origins was a thing?) well...

Definitely impressive. Then again, I believe Dragon Age comes from Bioware's Edmonton studios, so it wouldn't so surprising that they'd put out three great releases in a five year span if it were the only series they were working on.

As for this game, I'm twenty hours in and I need more of it in my life. I had to restart my previous 20-hour file because I wasn't 100% pleased with my character's face, but the sacrifice turned out to be worth it, as this new file has been bug-free so far. I'm just exploring areas like the Hinterlands and Storm Coast and having a blast. I feel I can forgive Bioware for bringing us back to Ferelden now that they've made it fun to explore and beautiful.

I still want to go to Tevinter, dammit.

The only flaw I can see so far is that the animations do the superb character graphics a disservice. Also the party members clambering all over the scenery and sprinting into walls while you're having a conversation with the local elf. It's amusing to look at until Varric throws himself off a cliff and uses one of your limited potions to heal his broken femur.

I've never had my part members suicide like that. I've had the opposite problem, though, where I jump off a small ledge and they just...stand around........

When are we doing the old multiplayer o:

Yeah, just last night I was mountain-climbing on the Storm Coast and at the summit I came face-to-face with a handful of spiders. That normally wouldn't be a problem, but my party members decided to remain stuck on the cliffs while my squishy mage fended for herself.

I'm biting the bullet and downloading the new patch and hotfix, because I would definitely be interested in playing multiplayer soon, which would necessitate being online. If my elf winds up 100 years older I'm going to rage.

EDIT: Okay, the patch is wonderful. Everything runs even better than before and the loot you ping shows up on your mini-map. :awe:

Started this game tonight, my body is so not ready.

My Inquisitioner is a white-haired, red-eyed elven mage named Ilyasviel, because of course she is. This game is pretty fun, and definitely lives up to the DA: O level of difficulty. Actually had to go on casual for the first boss fight because I'm bad at life/ran out of Potions. Did most of the fight on Normal but then I was like "yeah no pls."

I'm so hype to play more. Gonna rush home from work tomorrow at 4 and get Inquisitioning!

Satterrible, you can't do psychopath things in this game. I'm sorry to burst your bubble.

And yeah, from what I hear, basically the patch actually unlocked some graphics settings that were fixed to "ultra". They linked shaders and meshes or something, and then they got stuck set on "low". >_> A rookie mistake, really. Anyway, the hotfix put it right.

Thank Kraden for hotfixes.

My first playthrough was a female Qunari mage (still haven't finished, need to do the last story mission but it's dwagin' season) and I romanced Iron Bull because yesssssss. Plus I want to craft some uber gear for myself and my party. My mother threw away my receipt that had the code for the pre-order bonuses on it, so that was annoying. No Flames of the Inquisition set for me.

In the meantime I started my second playthrough as a dual-wielding female elven rogue. Gonna romance Solas (only dating inside your own species isn't racism) and spec into the Tempest specialization because it seems like it would work better with dual-wielding than archery. She is a redhead (sorry Iron Bull but I am looking for diversity, rip) and has a face tattoo and it was only an hour or so into the file that I realized her overall color scheme (red and green) basically makes her a Christmas elf.

Also my headcanon is that she is incredibly resentful over the elves' position and will support elves and the reclamation of their old magic/history over anything else, since all the elves I played in Origins were impressively peacable and even-minded given what they've been through. So I guess she's a little racist. I'm playing her really aggressive and semi-sarcastic, although she favors Leliana's tactics over anything military.

This game is just so much fun. Agreeing with Arty that this game deserves an Awakening-style expansion. I NEED MORE.

This is the first Bioware game in which my character is not sociopathic or an anti-hero. I had planned on furthering that tradition at first, but once I actually started the game I just dropped that idea and went for something completely different. Now I have a character who gets distracted by butterflies and crafts mittens for everyone in the party. In addition to setting bears on fire, of course.

Well, since it's an "AU" for me, I have to balance with what my character's upbringing is. Plus, well, honestly I'm not sticking to the F/SN character at all, since everyone would just hate me. :awsm: It's generally a mix of strong self-preservation, snark, and occasional displays of goodwill so far, but I'm still really early.

Still planning on romancing Iron Bull though.
