It might be better to do the entire game series in Origin? It seems you can transfer your heroes' identities, to the Keep, if they're connected to Origin. I think? It seemed so, anyway. And I've never -beat- any other game in the series, and I'm enjoying my time, for certain. |

DAI does a pretty good job of explaining things to total newcomers. The previous games in the series aren't necessary, but I'd highly recommend playing them, both for a complete understanding of the plot and lore, and because they're very good games in their own right. Slash's case was an exception, seeing as he played Origins but not 2. As for how the transfer of save files works: It technically doesn't. You make every decision on the Keep (the tool to customize your world state) regardless of whether you have save files from the previous games or not. All the previous save files really customize is the look of your characters from each of those games, and the Keep finds your save file regardless of whether you purchased the game through Steam, Origin, or as a standalone disk in the case of DA:O. |

It's a much more focused game, and its themes are far more personal, that's for sure. |

Nugs for life. Halla sound like hideous hell beasts. All the games in this series are incredible. Anybody who thinks otherwise is a dork. That's right I said it, and I'll say it again. |

Pretty much what Bane said. base Bioware. I definitely agree that DA2 was more personal and "feels-y," and a more focused story. DA: I is definitely best for scope and for world, though. And for things to do. |

As someone who absolutely loves the older Bioware RPGs, I absolutely adore Origins because it's the closest thing to those games that we're gonna get from them now. As far as the combat goes, I prefer the slow, methodical style of Origins over the action oriented style of 2 and Inquisition. I feel that Origin's story is more focused than Inquisition's, and has bigger stakes than 2. These things put it as the closest thing we're ever gonna get to a new Baldur's Gate game, thereby making Origins one of my favorite games ever. |

I haven't finished Inquisition's story, but I do think that so far, Origins had the best story of the three. |

Origins is my favorite, plotwise, because of the warm memories I have of playing it, if nothing else. It does have a more important plot, though it's a plot that would be stale if not for a few clever subversions. I think DA2's focus on characters and its themes of powerlessness and inevitability make it the better story, however, and a more interesting experience for the player on a macro level because of it. |

I hear you, and I know what you mean. I played through Baldur's Gate 1 a few years back, and while I enjoyed it overall, it just wasn't my style of gameplay, and it wasn't my kind of story. Well-written, though, and I can definitely see the appeal. And that's sort of how I've always viewed Origins, storywise. It is undoubtedly well-written and tightly-plotted. I just don't like the actual story. Like Arty said, DA2 is very character-focused, which is why I love it so much. I'll take character-driven stories over plot-driven, if given the choice, but obviously there are excellent examples of the latter. But even then, I've always felt that DA2 took Origins' established lore and made it...unique? More stylized? Thedas underwent a certain transformation in DA2, aesthetically and conceptually, and though you couldn't see it due to you being stuck in the Kirkwall area, it was still palpable. That may be because of the overall stronger and more relatable characters, which made Thedas feel more real. But I still think Origins is very good. I just prefer the two sequels by a wide margin. As for Inquisition's story? It could definitely do with more focus, and from what I hear, it's very short. I flat-out don't like the premise of it at all, and I think the Inquisitor is such a big step back from Hawke, but I appreciate what BioWare is doing to shake up and subvert the tropes they've used so far. So I'm like "Yeah, I appreciate this take on a tired premise, and I love how you're acknowledging the various shapes that kind of narrative can take...but I think a whole different kind of story altogether would have been better." But the exploration has me sold, story notwithstanding. I think of it as the The Lost Age of the series. The story may be more of a background thing compared to its predecessor(s), but worldbuilding goes a long way for me. As long as you've established an awesome setting in which I can imagine other stories taking place, you've won me over. Inquisition is doing to Dragon Age what TLA - or maybe even DD - did to Weyard, in a sense, and for that reason I love it. |

I've been thinking about this throughout the day, and I've started to develop this idea of how I think the eponymous Inquisition should have functioned in order to make it work better as a role-playing game. My single biggest criticism of the game so far is its reliance on the Chosen One trope. Spoiler: click to toggle Some companion quest spoilers and general spoilers post-In Your Heart... I may be taking this video game too seriously. tl;dr: I would have been happier making a companion rather than a protagonist :U |

What's crazy is that if you bring "mouse sensitivity" all the way to the right, everything runs so much smoother. Who would have thought? It gave me enough leeway to increase a few settings, so you could try that in the meantime. |

Aspodel-I completely agree with you. Imo Inquisition falls a logn way short of Origins, and I'm really hoping that DA4 lets us be a Grey Warden again. it really feels like you're making a difference when playing as a Warden, whereas Hawke just feels like a chump being used by everyone, and the Inquisitor was just caught up in events. |

Well, my concern here isn't that my character isn't making a difference. In fact, I love how she's simply caught up in events. Spoilers for those who haven't progressed very far in the story But that's very much a subjective issue. I love Inquisition's story, but I just don't like how the Inquisition itself is structured, mostly due to the effects it has on the cast. I just wish the game involved the other characters more in the actual decision-making process, and kept your character relatively down-to-earth in the meantime. It's the same reason roleplaying was hard in Skyrim, where every major faction treated you like a god one to two quests in. And I'm going to go against your wishes here and hope that DA4 makes us more of a nobody. Like Hawke. Chumps are cool. @Arty: I believe motion blur is under "Post Processing" effects...? Try turning that down a bit. |
