Although a few of those choices did come as a surprise to me. Like senjogahara in the #5 spot. I would think after stapling the MC's mouth in the first episode, people would be just a little turned off by that.
I'll note that this was a poll with 10,000 participants in it, of which only 363 voted for the #1 choice, and the top ten collectively consisted of only 1442 votes. That means over 85% of the sample voted for someone that isn't on this list. A far more accurate system would've been to have each person fill out a top ten ranking, and assign points based on that. Since most otaku have more than one waifu, this would give a much better indication of which characters have the biggest fanbase.
Asuna winning does not necessarily represent the views of the majority (even if she is practically made to be waifu material), and in fact represents a vocal minority. This is a critical weakness in the first past the post system, when there are a myriad of different choices, the winner will rarely be chosen by the majority, but rather the biggest minority.
Yeah I noticed that, still doesn't excuse the fact that Asuna is #1 perfect waifu according to this when she's an insult to swords everywhere.
Senjougahara is probably the best pick on this list actually, she isn't a Homura by any means but she's still pretty cute. Sure, I guess she can be a little "dangerous" but on the plus side, you won't have to worry too much about other people harming you while she's around with that overprotective nature she has.

Instead of taking damage, players are treated to a mild knockback when hit by another player in a safe zone. This is about the same kind of effect as when you're in a fighting game and you're forced to crouch in the corner like a little bitch because you can't counterattack or reposition without getting hit. It's more frustrating than terrifying, honestly, and hardly a reason for the goons to run and cry out in fear like they did. In fact, what makes the goons' presence any bit threatening in the first place if they actually cannot physically hurt people?
