Look at the bright side, the show actually bothered to give a scene which shows Kirito isn't perfect

Too bad it just did it in the worst way possible

I don't use the words perfect and flawless that often, do I? *tilts head*

Speaking of other buzzwords, this show is like
I can't handle all this wish fulfillment

edit: which would be interesting in a meta-sense if the show was self-aware

FINAL EPISODE: NO ONE BUT KIRITO IS REAL AND THE WHOLE WORLD IS DESIGNED TO FULFILL HIS WISH FULFILLMENT FANTASIES and then one by one take them away to see at what point the human mind breaks

Actually if Kirito's punishment was just a cute punch from a cute waifu that's still wish fulfillment. A lot of Kirito's apparent mistakes are inconsequential to the big picture; they only exist to make him seem realistic. But, they do get reeaaaaaal close to being legitimate. So close.

The guild incident from episode 3, for one. Kirito obviously feels guilt about being involved with their demise, but the problem is how much blame he allocates to himself. Having guilt is fine. What's not fine in this case is Kirito reasoning that his guild was smart enough to avoid this situation, which they weren't. He DID warn them on time, and they ignored all of his warnings. Yet Kirito still feels as if it's completely his fault that they died. There's a disconnect between how he feels and what actually happened, to a point that the whole thing feels like a cheap source of angst for Kirito to maintain his dark and edgy status.

and oh man episode 9 ha ha ha oh wow you guys are gonna love this one

okay this anime boob freak out thing. 99% of girls in real life will not care if you accidentally brush their boob. it is okay, it happens a lot.
Anime needs to get more creative with tit-illating boob touch moments.

Asuna needs to chill out. And how exactly did she make it so high up in her guild? By asking other people what they think and clinging to sleeves and fainting?

They don't accidentally brush boobs in anime, they accidentally sit there and grope them for a few seconds asking "What is this and why is it so soft." Naturally, because they don't know what it is, they continue squeezing it until they realize that they've been molesting a stranger for the past 10 seconds.

I think it's more that he felt he wasn't strong enough to protect them, when they were right in front of him. Basically, he's trying to be jesus yamato, but isn't that good.

See, I don't get the feeling out of Kirito. He's plenty strong. Strong enough to warrant lying about his level and his Beater status. Even if he actually wasn't strong enough to save his guildmates, the crux of the issue is that he regrets not warning them fast enough. Yet what I'm getting out of the entire thing is that these people died not because of Kirito's power level but because they were [radio edit]ing stupid. And if this particular event is what fuels Kirito's trepidations towards guilds, it only adds to his "waah I'm too strong for my own good" character. Thereby cheapening his guilt.

Bet you thought i updated.

Ive made my way through the first half, i just need to go back for screenshots and regret. I should have episodes 9-12 done for the next few days.

If you want my immediate opinion, well, i thought it was okay. I didnt notice that Yuki Kaijura did the soundtrack until episode 9, so that was a minor plus. The backgrounds were really nice. Everything else though. Oh man, everything else. Ill just leave that for the episode posts.
