huh... I did not realize how badly this episode portrayed the laughing coffin ambush incident until now. In the LN's I'm fairly certain the incident was addressed before now. Even so, it also looks like it forgot to mention how many laughing coffin members escaped that event and got away. I can think of at least 3 members, maybe more. I also don't remember the whole trauma thing being emphasized this much. Oh well. It's not like the anime ruining things is new... |

rofl it got wrecked with downvotes. Though, seeing the comments posted on Reddit reminded me that when I got to the part of this topic where everybody was making fun of the show for giving Kirito PTSD, I actually thought that was one of the more believable things SAO has done. |

I considered the good aspects of this development as well, but that meant disregarding a lot of things that happened in the first season. I had quite a cordial discussion with one of the Redditors who responded to the post via private messaging and it has served as a reminder of one important thing: my write-ups are not meant to be a fair assessment of the show and should not be the only source you should rely on when making an opinion about SAO. There are many other blogs out there that approach SAO with much more level criticism than I do, and others that are actually much harsher on SAO than I am. Ultimately the best gauge of quality is finding out for yourself whether or not SAO is good, but I personally wouldn't recommend that. |

It's not Guts and is marketed to teenagers but has pretty much an outright rape scene that's narrowly averted by YAY JESUS HERO POWER. I'd recommend this tripe about as far as I would throw it, which is nowhere because I wouldn't touch this shit for fear of becoming some kind of horridly criminal sexual deviant. Much like most of the people I've met on the Temple, you're a [radio edit]ing saint, Simple, and if it weren't for your constant bitching and lampooning of every nonsense bit of garbage the thing slides your way I think Lach would have shot me (through the internet, with a bullet lazily flying into my heart through the telephone lines) a few hours ago because of the shitfest I would have raised in its ears' direction. |

You know I can't believe I'm defending SAO, but it's far from being the worst thing ever, even with the terrible writing, the invinciblity of Yamato Jesus Kira's apostle Kirito, and the blatant waifu/harem pandering, ie: anything with Silica, perfect waifu Asuna, and did you know that Sugu's cup size was inflated by the editor and the author originally wanted her with smaller breasts? (a single change that led to simple's stockholm syndrome), etc. I mean, I still couldn't bring myself to keep watching it, and I certainly don't think it's a good anime, but it's far from the worst that lurks out there, plenty of shows are much trashier than simple makes this one sound. ...From the six or so episodes and the few clips of some other parts I've seen, anyway. The real "problem", if you want to call it that, is that SAO is actually popular, probably because of these things too. But hey, Japan loves it's OP protagonists that are OP just because and they love their harems, so what are you gonna do. Couldn't tell you if that's why it's popular in the west too or not. |

Trust me, I know there's worse, but I've seen Simple trashing this one which means I'm aware of it which makes it something I'll bitch about. I know there's plenty, plenty worse stuff out there. But we aren't looking at someone watching those so I'll bitch louder about those if someone deigns themselves worthy of the self-flagellation of watching those. |
