Also makes sense, if you buy into the whole "akihiko, kirito, and asuna were all talking in the big cloud place just prior to the logout" thing. Akihiko's player character was already defeated by that point, as was asuna, but they were there in the clouds. So, at the least, akihiko's ghost did not "die," and neither did asuna's. Anyway, congrats simple. You made it through literally the worst scene in the entire anime.

True Name: simplechild	Episode 25: The World Seed - We're not even one minute into this show and we have Sugou literally trying to stab Kirito in front of the hospital Asuna's in. Good thing Sugou is just as physically pathetic in real life, though! Gotta cash in that dramatic irony for all it's worth! - Since Kirito is easily able to overpower Sugou, he's no longer an obstacle and Kirito can finally enter the hospital safel- WAIT WHAT - WHAT THE [radio edit] - WHOSE IDEA WAS THIS - Well he doesn't actually kill Sugou, and perhaps this would be a great step for Kirito's character concerning the differentiation between real life and virtual reality, but please. This show has done little to justify such a development ever since episode 1. - He's actually cut on the cheek here but that doesn't stop me from thinking that Kirito is rocking a mean banana grin. Ah, the lengths this show goes to ruin my immersion. - Shut up, Yui. Where even is she, anyway? Does she surpass her digital flesh and become [rainbow]real daughteru[/rainbow]? Because that would be kind of sickening. - "I just finished my very last battle." That's cute. - The supposition that SAO!Kirito and SAO!Asuna are separate entities from their controllers is an intriguing one. The idea that, even though the memories are shared of their relationship, what happened in SAO is still exclusive to their avatars. The real relationship starts now. - [rainbow]PERFECT WAIFU[/rainbow] IN GAME, [rainbow]PERFECT WAIFU[/rainbow] IN REAL LIFE. - "Yeah, I'm finally able to walk around without crutches." Kirito was able to walk immediately upon waking up, you scrub. Check your walking privileges. - Time for some more cryptic avian metaphors! SO DEEP. - Oh hey I remember these two from episodes 1 and 4. IT'S OKAY GUYS, THESE TWO MADE IT OUT OKAY AND THAT'S ALL THAT MATTERS. - I supposed this story is set in a universe where people let this shit happen, but you don't just hand over deadly equipment to some other corporation and let them make another game out of it. - Kayaba has officially become Digital God, to whom Digital Jesus shall answer to and carry on his prophecy to the ignorant masses. - Kirito might want to check that bulging forehead of his. WELP I'M BORED LET'S LOOK AT PICTURES OF LITERALLY BEST GIRL INSTEAD. AW YEA - God Klein, don't make it gay. - WELP, THE AUTHOR DEUS EX MACHINA'D HIS WAY TO SIX SEASONS AND A MOVIE THANKS TO A STUPID GLOWING HOLOGRAPHIC EGG. - I can't help but think that you can organize some unfair shit by doing exactly this. - MEANWHILE AT SUGUFA'S CLEAVAGE - The story tries spins Sugufa's attempt to reach the moon as a metaphor of how she will never be able to connect with Kirito as deeply as she wants to. That she can't make it up there because there's a limit in the game height, much like there's both psychological and societal barriers to both truly understand and be in love with Kirito. The analogy stands, but that doesn't make it less stupid. Especially when this is being shown. C'mon, SAO. Breasts don't just jut out like that when she's completely horizontal to the camera. - Again, Sugu's incest subplot feels out of place in this story. Because she's relegated as a secondary character the entire time, the show misses a golden opportunity to validate Suguha's existence in the story as a person in Kirito's life who, while not privy to the details of his experiences in SAO, was still able to stand alongside him. Her character arc could have been spun as a journey of understanding, after years of estrangement and repressed feelings she makes the incredible decision to play an MMO to better understand her older brother, of whom she loves deeply both as an individual and as her family. The catharsis here would be that while she had no hope of completely understanding him in the first place, it wasn't necessary in order to repair their relationship as siblings. Her feelings for him still linger, but she would have to learn to deal with it. Too bad the story doesn't do anything to substantiate this line of development outside of this episode. - And then they literally start dancing with the stars. Okay. - what the shit They were able to fit ALL OF SAO into ALO? - "This time, we're going to clear all 100 floors and conquer that castle." Is there an anime about this? I'd rather watch an anime about this. - "I've reset my status attributes, so I'm pretty weak now." - Asuna with teal hair!? RUINED [rainbow]FOREVER[/rainbow] - GOD DAMMIT SHUT UP YUI. Okay. This show. Episode 25 practically exists in a different dimension from the rest of the story. it's the ending to an anime that I apparently missed out on. There's conclusions and developments happening left and right that, while cute in concept, were not fully realized in the actual story. You can't force those kinds of things in a conclusion without calling into question literally everything that happened before it. Kirito's internal struggle with his RL identity versus his in-game identity are given their proper depth in episodes 1 and 25, but there are too many missing links in between. Asuna's retrograde development during the later half of SAO and the entirety of ALO apparently didn't happen once episode 25 showed up. Suguha was mercilessly molested by the camera too much for me to appreciate anything of worth to her character. Everyone else in Kirito's posse just served their purpose as side characters who heap praise upon praise on our hero as if he deserved everything he got. Long story short, he did not deserve a lot of the positive things that happened to him. Despite the story revolving around the guy, his overall character is empty. There's a lack of justified development in Kirito's character. Oh, there's much to be speculated when it comes to figuring out why Kirito does Kirito things, but the narrative purpose for each action in the story has always fallen back to supporting the Gary Stu: made perpetually powerful, made perpetually righteous, and does things with as little effort taken as possible. The way the story visibly bends over backwards to support this image contributes to Kirito's static nature as a protagonist, and fuels the blatant teenage wish fulfillment fantasy that the show really is. Yet the real problem is that wish fulfillment fantasies can be written well: SAO chooses the wrong way to go about it by assuming that its own fantasy can be a legitimate, real-life occurrence without anyone calling out the absurdities. And don't even get me started on the villains of this show. I've talked about them enough already. This anime had some nice visuals, a nicer soundtrack, and attempted to address a few important themes regarding virtual reality and the social demographic of MMO gamers, but the story often felt unpolished in its pacing, focus, and execution. In fact, said pacing, focus, and execution was so frenetic and juvenile that I was having trouble legitimately caring about anything that happened on screen as early as episode 2. The anime was set in an MMO but failed to be ABOUT an MMO, in favor of being a cartoon Twilight for boys. I personally give this anime a 2 out of 10, if only because the first episode showed promise. Perhaps if I were still a wee 13-year-old boy when it aired, I would have enjoyed this anime a lot more than I'd be comfortable with. In memoriam for all the characters that matter in this show: 1. Lisbeth: Literally Best Girl That is all.

Your torment is finally over, your long and gruelling suffering finally at an end. We salute you and this topic. ~~see you in a month when Phantom Bullet begins~~ also I think it's dumb they want to continue on with the game after all that shit. I can understand going back on adventures with some development or progress in the characters/still have bad guys to fight but this anime didn't have that. If I were Kirito I would steer clear of MMOs for a looooooooooooooooong time.

Don't think I'm not. Simple, you've gone through a lot of suffering to make sure we avoided an completely horrid anime. I appreciate that. But, unfortunately, Kirito will no longer have a BFS, and will have a Little Useless Gun instead. Be prepared to complain about how weak Kirito is, and that the side characters, who are ten billion levels lower than him, can beat Kirito. With another Little Useless Gun.
