True, I think it took me a couple years. I think a time standard + some show of consistent activity would be best (no laying a bunch of troll eggs and letting them hatch 3 months later to invade the board, for example). |

An opt-in forum would be okay, it would just have to be governed by a leader approving people. I think 1000 is too high, though. Maybe 500? And well, I can hope, but certainly we'll do everything we can plan for that anyway. Seccy, I don't think either of those are options. >_> |

Well, I like op-in option better. Because having physically approve of people who can and can not see the forum is an extra layer of protection. |

Plus, there's no way to have an opt-in format restrained to one group. We can have a newborn group that goes up to x, but that would be scripted by having every other group but that one have access to the forum. |

If you guys are willing to go through all this effort because of a prankster, more power to you, but I think letting new members fully be part of the forum is easier and more inclusive to potential new friends. I think these restrictions on new members adds a sense of paranoia to the community. |

I agree with Kiki. A better option would be to simply log, screencap, or save every interaction you have with Tract when he's like this. We have some evidence already, but if we wanted, we could build a civil, if not criminal, suit against Tractatus on our behalf. There are cyberbullying laws in Canada that take into account stalking, harassment, and the disruption of emotional wellbeing; I think Tractatus's actions towards us fall under each one of those categories. |

If we put restrictions on new members for arbitrary reasons such as tine spent/posts, we will be equally effective in stopping people intending to do us harm as the TSA is. In other words, no. I do not like any of this. |

After thinking about the board award thing, and reading responses in here, I've decided that we can just [radio edit] Tract. We ignore him and let him get bored. "Oh, but he'll post a thousand billion times on post preview!" Then delete that account again. "Oh, but he'll rig the awards!" [radio edit] it. "He'll be an asshole!" He already is. While he used to be a(n arguably) decent user, now he's butthurt and wants to annoy us, and he wants to see that he's annoyed us. So [radio edit] him. Edit: My position is also partially informed by not wanting to limit board access to new users (except for member titles - get on my level, plebians). |

Yeah I agree with Bane. All we're doing now is "feeding the troll" as it were. |

This is a silly idea and you should feel silly. Like ryu was saying, create TSA and the terrorists win. |

He joined a while back and was mildly annoying but not too bad overall; after a while he got put on staff (God only knows why) and thus began his gradual descent into madness. Eventually he got removed from staff (for misconduct as far as I know), snapped, and got himself banned by flooding the post preview filter. This sort of behavior is pretty consistent with the way he acted while he was here. |

He was supposed to only have theme manager ACP access at first, since you can assign that sort of power without making someone a full admin. I'm fuzzy on how he became full admin, though.

I don't really care about Tract (and I find the suggestion to call the police on him to be utterly ridiculous. Don't believe me? Call them yourself and say someone is being mean on your internet forum). I only really care about the integrity of the results. If there's any chance they were tampered with, that's unacceptable to me. Call it stupid and sentimental, but I started these things about 6 or 7 years ago, and the idea that they'll be a casualty in the staff's penis length contest with Tract bothers me more than a bit (and certainly more than it should, but whatever). But whatever, enjoy your idiotic analogies involving terrorists and the TSA and pat yourselves on the back for peeing farther than Tract. I'm done on the topic |

Yeah, not saying we should do that, Kiki -- but to keep it open as an option, we have to do the work now. So it's just something to keep in mind. tl;dr tract history, feel free to correct me. my memory's hazy Anyway, despite all that, I'm just exasperated at this point. wwwwwwww |

I agree with this, and though we've had this conversation already, Aaron, perhaps I'm not understanding the extent of the damage either. I don't really... I think we're overreacting. I think that some amount of posting limit -- the small ones, like fifty or something, for the board awards makes sense, because as somebody mentioned earlier, board awards does benefit from a certain amount of familiarity with the forum. I don't even vote or nominate in board awards anymore because I just don't feel I'm around enough to weigh in properly on it! I also think 1000 posts to limit -anything- is too much, it's more important to keep this community welcoming as opposed to be this paranoid. I'd also suggest he has better things in his life to do than troll it all here, although the more this goes on the more he'll certainly feel tempted to. I might also suggest that we don't know how much sway his trolling had on the board awards -- yes, it's the principle of the matter and I fully support getting some kind of a regulation on that, if just a bare minimum, but as far as I understand we don't actually know which he swayed and which he didn't, yes? Feel free to ignore this -- I'm not around all that often and I understand that I haven't had to deal with or really even see any of the trolling take place, so I'm not that close at hand with the things being discussed, plus I'm not that active anymore. |

1. I agree with Sun about us making a big deal just spurring him on to more antics. 2. I also think she has a point about us not knowing the extent of any "rigging" he might have done. Most of the results seemed pretty legit to me?
