I get why people don't like Bebop but it always seems more like a taste thing than a quality thing. |

Yeah, it's a good show but I'm not big on the episodic approach. I still think it's pretty much the most overrated anime of all time though. |

No, I'm serious! I do understand! All the arcs featuring backstory on Spike, Faye, and Jet were really good. When those things came together at the end, it was great. Everything else in between, however, can be interpreted as filler crap that doesn't apply to the heroes directly (Things like Pierrot le Fou, Boogie Woogie Feng Shui, and Sympathy for the Devil). I see those episodes as aspects of worldbuilding and welcome them, but to others who are more interested in a grand ol' tale it's a disappointment. |

stop trolling pls also top lel at Bebop being the most overrated anime series. Even ignoring Eva, which has no competition in that aspect, feel free to peruse MAL's top anime list sometime, I'm sure you'll find plenty more rage-inducing titles than Bebop. |

Those filler episodes were exactly my problem with the series as the backstory episodes and the characters themselves were great. My thoughts on the series were constantly up and down because of this, I'd watch an episode and think it was great and then the next one would leave me with the feeling of "meh" crawling all over. Also, with Bebop in comparison with other popular series like Eva and Clannad, it's quite common to come across people who don't like the latter whereas with Bebop, it seems like literally everyone and their dog loves it. Actually, now that Attack on Titan is a thing I think it's up there for most overrated anime and wow, Steins;Gate is good but it should not be ranked that high, MAL pls go. Don't judge the strawman, WHAT DID HE EVER DO TO YOU? |

Perhaps we should bring this conversation back to Madoka and not Silvy's Hey Adna, I'm interested in hearing why you consider the music to be "bowl-of-porridge". I have an inkling towards what you may be talking about, but I'd rather hear it from you. |

Adna's point about the music being overused is an interesting one, actually. Part of it sums up why a lot of western shows -and- movies bore me, partially: the music, if it's present at all, is usually quite simple and repetitive, or just songs borrowed wholesale from other artists (woot, advertising)! There's not always room for originality or a memorable score, excepting things like The Lord of the Rings. And even that I'd argue is even more overused, since it makes use of a handful of motifs/themes in variations and repeats them in Wagnerian fashion to build associations. So that generic "lush" I guess that you're isolating is one of the things that keeps me artistically satiated in anime. Because not only am I getting the world presented and told in a creative, extra-ordinary way, I'm hearing it differently as well. However, this might be that I usually just hear a lot of bad western OSTs, and am comparing it to good anime soundtracks. But then I'd have no thesis to argue.

Mami's theme is orgasmic. I don't mind if they overuse it. <3 [yt-sound]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kIMf1CSAZYc[/yt-sound] |

I regularly walk around humming Mami's theme. The kindly old Italian grandmother at the store complimented me on it "Ah, it's so nice to hear people humming! It's a sign of contentment." |

Maybe the key to Adna watching more anime is to sic our horrible taste in music on him. Though I'd just be posting a lot of Iwasaki Taku, Michiru Oshima, and Yoko Kanno. Yuki Kaijura is fine, too. |
