Temple of Kraden News: Welcome to the Temple of Kraden! ------ All worshipers may enter the Most Holy Place in single file, reflecting on the bountiful blessing Kraden hath provided unto him or herself since their last visit. Head coverings are not necessary, as true penitence and humility are found within. The Priests and Priestesses of Kraden endeavor to remind all that fresh orange juice is heavily preferred; only whores use frozen.
Greetings, heathen. Perhaps some fortuitous blessing of Kraden's grace hath led you to our humble Temple, or perhaps you are simply curious about this strange and wonderful cult. Should you be willing - and dare to hope - to achieve enlightenment, the door opens before you. Lo! Leave your old life behind! For once you step through, you become something more than just yourself.

You become a Kradenette.

Are you willing to make the rapturous plunge? Do you have what it takes?

Or that, yeah. He'd probably still hate it because it's anime, though.

There's clearly no hope for him, might as well just give up on the thought.

Although he does like Azumanga Daioh for some reason...

He just watches it for the plot.

This topic serves as a reminder that anime is not nearly as accessible as you might think.

Honestly, so much this. I wish I could get a few more people at this board to believe this.

What makes you think people here don't believe that?

I thought the reason people didn't like anime fans is because they're all obnoxious and try to force it on people who have no interest in it?

You make it sound like that kind of behaviour is only limited to anime fans.

It may not be but anime fans can be pretty bad about it.

Especially if they're still into shounen anime by the time they graduate from college.

@ Bowz, I suppose I've been figuring that the lion's share of the animu people don't see themselves as weirdos. I guess I'm wrong, question mark?

@ Silvy, that's why I don't like anime fans, that's true.

@ Simple, PM me links, if you're sure about what you're doing.

I never shove anime down someone's throat...

Do you stereotype anime fans as socially awkward, perverted, weirdos?

Lemu?

That's because they're not weirdoes, Adnarel. No more than say, chromatic music fans are weirdoes, for liking something that's different.

Spend some more time on the forum and see what my sample population of animu people is like. >_>

Which, to be fair, has diversified over the years.

You implying it's weird for grown men to watch shows about teenage girls like Madoka Magica? Wow, so judgmental.

Did Lemu even post in this thread?

Yeah Simple, I can see that being the case for people who are recommending stuff to friends but most people I know that like anime don't really flaunt how awesome "x" series is in front of people they don't know as it's kind of an "in the closet" thing(cause a lot of people hate anime).

I can only think of one person here who might match that description, Simple, (Miral), and that person is one of the most worldly successful and driven people out of everyone here.

I think, Adnarel, that you're not seeing past the persona that people are projecting, or knowing when people are joking or not.

I would totally get a wallscroll though, so long as it was tasteful. And while some anime fans are "intense," some sports fans are also just as intense and cultish. It's just a matter of what's normalized by the society and what's not, but from a distance they're both equally creepy (and I say this as both a sports fan and an anime fan). Swimsuit calendars and "ecchi anime calenders" are both pretty weird objectively, for example.

Sometimes I've felt like I was flipping through an "ecchi anime calendar" just by having avatars enabled here. That's improved over time, too.

Also, misread Silvy as Lemu. All of you Venus Clanspeople are the [radio edit]ing same anyway. =S

Yeah, but it's acceptable for men to be creepily obsessed with sports and scantily clad models because it's what society expects of them.

Seriously, I haven't met a single "real" weeaboo and every anime fan I've met has been pretty discrete about their interests. Comparing anime fans to other people I know, they try to shove their interests down your throat considerably less than others do.

I just think you're generalizing way too much, Adnarel. I do know why you say what you do, but you're dissing people for a simple liking of something.
