I'd forgotten how good its Sound Track was (and quickly recognized it as Suwano's after having played Xenoblade Chronicles X). This new first episode actually clarified some things from the last arc of season 1. S2E1 spoilers namely, why the Wall Cult leader was actually screaming at them to keep Annie away from the wall. I just assumed he was just in full religious nut mode for preserving the wall. And, I suppose he was, just for different reasons than I thought. It was sad to see the nose guy go. I'd forgotten he existed until I re-watched season 1 today.

It spoils things way too far ahead in the manga to be explained in just 12 episodes. I hate when animes do this shit. I mean they must sit around a table and go "hm yeah this is great lets go with it". Jesus christ.

I heard that their production was understaffed or something, likely due to work on other projects, which is... bizarre. This thing was clearly a major hit and they've had 3 years to prep for it. Honestly, something like this makes me more concerned about the state of anime production in general when this is how they deal with something they should clearly be putting their best foot forward on from every perspective. Oh well, I guess a fluke of bad timing could be the case, but still, pretty weird. At least the individual episode quality doesn't appear to be suffering. In the long run, that'll be what matters most. Having jumped directly from the last seasons final episode to this first one, it seemed fine to me.

Terennia	Anime in japan is on a super tight schedule, p much always. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TpyBOIUvl_o This vid explains a lot of the issues involved in japanese animation, although it's based on DragonBall Super, but the things they mention are pretty universal.
