Though I don't like Mikasa as much as I thought I would. She doesn't have much to her character, just an obsession with Eren. It's cool when she gets all badass though. I don't like the characters at all, really. But the horror/action scenes with the Titans are grand. I tried reading the manga and the art is just so bad I couldn't. Got all the spoilers for the series though. =P

I actually suspect that the incredibly slow pacing of the show is so they don't blow through an entire season's budget just getting one episode done. The characters aren't given enough room to breathe and grow. If the series becomes a story about a boy/man and his obsession consuming and ultimately destroying him, then I will consider this a good, or at least, somewhat unique series. I feel it'll go down that path just because of how Eren's [radio edit]ing crazyeyes are only growing in intensity as the series progresses. The series, somehow, reminds me a bit of Fullmetal Alchemist. I think it's the somewhat simple introductory concept (alchemy vs homunculi/badass grappling hooks vs titans) which appears to be playing into a much larger picture. Without having read/watched any other material related to the show, I'm willing to bet that Titan is going to pull a FMA-esque "SOYLENT GREEN IS PEOPLE" moment. I just hope it gets as good at characterization as FMA was.
