To be really honest, it didn't need a cliffhanger, but it would have set up a lot of good tension for the next season. I do agree that the ending wrapped up everything a little too nicely, and really could have been drawn out more, and made the situation a little more dire.

@HyrulianJedi: Even though I love the series so far, this is really one aspect that really bothers me about RWBY. The whole of S1 was more focused on the development of one of the B-teams, and was even expanded on a bit in S2. They really could stand to drop at least 1 of the other teams completely, or even kill off some members and reform a team with the remaining members.

I really hope that S3 takes a few steps back and really focuses on the existing characters, and not adding new ones. Maybe a few episodes focused on development for some villains like Junior and the Malachite twins.

pretty much this exactly.

They have SO many good and interesting characters with all kinds of potential to enhance the series. But they keep cluttering it up with new, redundant characters every few episodes.

I think S1 should have focused on team RWBY and handled most of the development we see across both seasons. Maybe had some of Jaune, but only in as much as he interacted with their team (I [radio edit]ing hated his bully arc, it was terrible). Then S2 could have expanded to develop JNPR, as well, and continued developing Jaune and RWBY.

Obviously, certain side characters are useful in their roles: Ozpin and Glinda both served purposes without drawing attention away from the main cast. Likewise, Torchwick was a suitable villain for S1, with expansion to Torchwick and Cinder for S2. The other two were completely unnecessary. If they needed more, Junior should have been brought in.

I get that they're setting something up with Penny. It's difficult to say how relevant she should be without knowing what that is. I don't think she should have been in S1, though.

I think everyone I didn't name is unnecessary, honestly, as anything but a background character (like the professors were in S1).

I've watched RWBY S2 3 times in the last 24 hours, each time with a different audio track... And there's still 2 more to go.
I like commentaries, but 4 is just excessive X_X

In General, I thought it was great. I'm glad they just jumped right into the whole "tournament" thing rather than doing a bunch of preliminary crap like some other shows do. I was surprised by the pair they chose to proceed with, I assumed it'd be Ruby and someone else, so that should be interesting.

Although, I gotta say, I didn't like how overly contrived some of the situations were. Like the professors explaining how the overall tournament works.... in the MIDDLE of a fight that they're announcing for? They really could have just done that at almost any other time by nearly anyone else and it would have fit fine and not seemed out of place, but that particular setting just did not work.

I definitely liked the stadium and how the battle field works. It reminded me of the pokemon statium strage in super smash bros melee.

Man, the series is definitely hurting from Monty's death. It's clear whoever's choreographing the fights isn't anywhere near his level, which is understandable, but still unfortunate.
