The fight-clowd visual effect really caught me off guard. It just seemed... odd. I did love how they effectively used the shadow/background people in order to make a joke really apparent (when the guy asked where he'd find another quirky girl and walks off screen, revealing a single, unshadowed person as a visual punchline to the joke). Also, onesie pajamas FTW.

Although his character does seem useful for setting up good jokes... or at least being the butt of jokes. That pancake slurp... startled me. It was long enough and had enough content to make it feel worth it to watch. Then these next 4 episodes should have all honestly been one episode. Plus the next episode about to come. This is making things proceed waaaay too slow, especially since the first episode was so much longer. But yeah, expected/10 for this episode.

It also let Monty get back to what he does best - incredibly chaotic action sequences. I'm trying to figure out whether I want to use Ruby or Yang for Rumble, now. Yang's got a cooler fighting style, IMO, but I think Ruby would mesh better as a character.

Spoiler: click to toggle For some reason, Nora sailing through the air on her hammer all casual like was my favorite part. Not sure why. I haven't been a fan of her character thus far, but that part just put a big smile on me for some reason.

Also uuuuugh because of the shortness of the episodes it makes the long periods where nothing really happens even worse, since you just get these entire episodes with some comedy but otherwise nothing happen.

And while Jaune's development took a good direction, the blackmail direction I groaned pretty hard at. Too much high school drama.

Even if it's high-school learning, it's more of a college setting where people live on campus and are supposedly there because they WANT to be there. So having a classic school bully just seems dumb to me, and it's wasting precious screen time. But yeah, I was pretty happy about Jaune's development there on the roof. It explained his character better and was actually interesting.

But that doesn't mean they have to use all the standard high school cliches. Like, Jaune sneaking in was a cool addition. The relationship between Ruby and Weiss is good (as is Ruby and Yang, though I'd like to see more of it). Blake isn't the loner emo I'd initially pegged her for, but doesn't hit the "badass" loner, either, which is a great balance. Even bully-dude was taking more of an interesting route when they showed him targeting others, too, not just Jaune, especially to carry forward the theme from the first episode of humanity bringing the darkness back itself. Also Blake really needs some more attention, holy crap. She seems to have an awesome nonchalant quiet personality, which doesn't lend itself well to group things (especially given how aggressive Ruby and Weiss are, attention-wise), but [radio edit] man, give her something.

I tend to just kind of, forget about it for 3 weeks. ...Still, that was just pretty damn stupid. I wish they'd release episodes longer than 4 minutes long. :/ or at least more often than a week at a time!
