Temple of Kraden News: Welcome to the Temple of Kraden! ------ All worshipers may enter the Most Holy Place in single file, reflecting on the bountiful blessing Kraden hath provided unto him or herself since their last visit. Head coverings are not necessary, as true penitence and humility are found within. The Priests and Priestesses of Kraden endeavor to remind all that fresh orange juice is heavily preferred; only whores use frozen.
Greetings, heathen. Perhaps some fortuitous blessing of Kraden's grace hath led you to our humble Temple, or perhaps you are simply curious about this strange and wonderful cult. Should you be willing - and dare to hope - to achieve enlightenment, the door opens before you. Lo! Leave your old life behind! For once you step through, you become something more than just yourself.

You become a Kradenette.

Are you willing to make the rapturous plunge? Do you have what it takes?

FFIII didn't let you buy Phoenix Downs. You thus had a finite amount of times you could let a party member die in this game. It gets double negative points for it's flaws considering it had a remake (not a port, a remake), which, you know, should've fixed those flaws.
Gonna pop in here to say that FFIII had Raise show up about halfway through the game, so it's not entirely finite.

I like FF III because of its difficulty. That dang boss battle with the bird or whatever was friggin' punishing. Even with 3 Dragoons. :V

Anime was a mistake

Really? REALLY? No one's mentioned Ultima IX, the game that killed a franchise yet?! I mean, it's literally unplayable.

And Boyd, that filter is left in just because your reactions are the most nourishing part of my day. <3

I can't at the moment think of anything deserving the title of "worst RPG," but I've probably just repressed the memory. I'll think about it.

Wheey! I've became a human being!! I am very handsam!

wtf the Garuda fight is possibly the worst fight in the entire game

Even if you use all Dragoons, winning that fight is almost entirely luck-based. FF III DS is difficult, sure, but for the wrong reasons.

Oh wow, you guys have made me remember some doozies. Superman 64, holy shit. MMBN2 wasn't much fun either (it relies too much in you knowing something about the story, which I did not. The gameplay did not make up for that). I also played an absolutely terrible digimon game, the name of which I cannot remember, but it was incredibly bad (although possibly not in the category of RPG...)

most people agree Digimon World 2 is pretty bad, but that's definitely an RPG, no question about it

No, it was Digimon Battle Spirit 2. Classed as a fighting game. I seriously couldn't figure it out, though

ALL ABOUT THE BENJAMINS

For me, what comes to mind is FF12. As someone who love FF games, this just blew, and I gave it three chances, usually dedicated bout 10 hours each time. Still just could not enjoy it. But that probably won't be the worst RPG I've ever played, because there are probably games I bought and got sick of in an hour and never touched again. I'll have to browse through my collection to figure out the suckiest!

There was a licensed Lord of the Rings game that was buggy and horrible and not even playable past a certain point. I still want a refund for my time playing it.
I remember that. It was a Fellowship of the Rings game for GBA. Literally unplayable for about half of the game. Obviously did not get bugtested at all.

Runner-up goes to Golden Sun: Dark Dawn, and being quite serious when I say so.

I dunno I'd still say that GW2 is worse than DD and I don't like GS to begin with.

GW2's saving grace has been how enormous and rewarding the game world is. If you don't like the story, you can do PvP or WvW to your heart's content. It also helps that it's a social game, unlike GS:DD.

But I can see the argument that GW2 is a weaker story than GS:DD.

Some other FF port for GB, I forget which.
Must have been The Final Fantasy Legend or one of its sequels, A.K.A. one of the SaGa games renamed for America. Strangely, they never ported any of the primary FF games to Game Boy or even Game Boy Color.

For your closure, the plot of the game was a time-traveling group looking to plug the Water Entity that threatened to flood the world. The name of their ship was Talon, and the name of the final boss was Xagor. It was typical early-ish RPG fare from Japan. Imaginative world with a soulless main character and a series of NPC's that are given undue emphasis and then never talked about again.
