I think you interpreted it correctly. I was thinking people could use it to share srs life issues. Like "I think I may be depressed because of long-term x reason" or "My boss called me anorexic and I don't know how to handle this situation". |

Yeah, I getcha. And I just realized I unintentionally insulted your idea, saying it could be redundant. Sorry. ^^; It would be nice to have a more focused place for members to do that. I am for this idea. |

I was the one that voted no. I don't like the idea of a 'support group subforum'. I understand that some Kradenettes might want to hear the opinions of other Kradenettes on important life matters and dilemmas but I don't think that the Temple needs to provide an official place for it, and ultimately I think Clan Commons can be re purposed for that role. Like Draco said there are already picture/meetup/personal topics there. Ultimately I'm in favor of closing SSB and moving it's topics to GD and Clan Commons where GD becomes the general subforum + serious world news/debate and Clan Commons becomes the Kradenette life subforum. In the end I can't even figure out why GD exists, it seems a lot like GD to me. |

Because yo. I understand Bowz' point here. Other than posting about clan/tribe related stuff, I've never really known what CC was supposed to be for. The only topic I have ever posted in it was the HQ for the Ki Tribe. Six years ago. I'm not opposed to the idea, but I just don't really see it as necessary. We've already established that a second, semi-secret board for serious discussions is pretty unnecessary, although opinion seems to be swinging towards making SSB an opt-out forum, instead, which would resolve that issue anyway. Though I can't tell because people DON'T WANNA CONTRIBUTE TO THE DISCUSSION. |

Clan Commons is a repository of Temple lore, as Draco said, and also the Temple's virtual "grounds". Like... demi-semi-roleplay grounds. I wouldn't expect the original Clanless and the only-externally-Solian to really care about that, though. But that being the original purpose of Clan Commons is why I'd rather the RL-related stuff be in a separate forum. EDIT: Man, I started to write this post and then deleted it and then forgot an important point when I was rewriting it. What I was saying is that Clan Commons is very much like the clan forums in that we don't post in them very often, but that doesn't mean they don't serve a valuable purpose in making this place what it is. |

Also, the only reason personal topics started appearing in CC is because it's a hidden forum. It wasn't an appropriate place for them, but it was the only option for those who didn't want to join SSB. |

Yeah, Clan Commons wasn't supposed to have stuff like the picture and meetup topics in the first place, it was just the privacy and a sense of "nowhere better to put them!" that led to those things being there. Clan Commons was about the Temple of Kraden itself, it's more for worldbuilding and Templeverse, and if I must, I'll move the Snack Bar back there.

This brings up another good point that I just thought of. It's extremely easy to register and gain access to CC and SSB. So posting personal topics in a forum that isn't one of the gender forums (or the secret clan forums I guess) is the almost the same thing as posting them in a forum like GD. I mean, I understand that people posting these kinds of topics might want the illusion that they're only sharing among friends, but the reality is much different. I mean, making a kardenette life forum that is opt-out means that it's even easier for people to gain access to these topics than with SSB's current opt-in.
This actually brings up what my response to Poui would be so I'll just respond to you both at the same time. The Snack Bar is one of the topics that led me to the conclusion that CC and GD were essentially the same forum. As far as I know nobody has ever complained about the Snack Bar being in GD, when in reality, based on what you guys are telling me it should be in CC. The Snack Bar is probably the biggest example of the "demi-semi-roleplay" type of topics that Poui was talking about and if it goes in GD why can't the rest, and what need is there for CC? |

This is all true, and I hope people take this into consideration when sharing very personal information here. Though I believe a hidden forum's protection from the wider sphere of google searches and bots is what most cautious people are concerned with. Either way, it's up to the member to decide if they want to share details with the entire member-base or simply contact a few friends on skype. |

Just a note, but I believe stuff like the Picture thread, meet-up topics, and so on preceded us making Clan Commons members-only. If anything, we made it members-only in order to protect all the personal stuff that was already there. That being said, I kinda like Bowz's logic. Clan Commons as a "neutral ground" for the Temple could double nicely as a "support group" thing. Though it's presently difficult to notice the neutral ground part what with the big honking description that SOMEBODY insisted on having. :U |
