The point I was making was that even if we do that, the search index won't update that those topics have been prefixed. Speaking of which am I the only person who's known of this? The broken search, that is. |

Nah, I think quite a few of us do... but there's nothing we can do about it that I know of, it's a Zetaboards thing. :/ |

Like Satty said, nothing can be done - it's a problem on all ZB forums, I think. |

...Huh. That explains some failed searches I've done before, it must also only record the original text of a post, too. |

Sorry, just to clarify, what forum is SSB a subforum of? I only recently found out about SSB and couldn't be bothered to opt myself in. If you make it a subforum of somewhere unviewable by guests, such as the Clan Commons as Satty suggested, but have it as an opt out forum, then I'm pretty sure everyone's fears would be addressed. Except for the searching thing, but that seems like it's going to be a problem regardless... |

It's a subforum of General Discussion.

I've been all over the board on this issue, but here are my current thoughts. 1. I do agree that most of the 'debate' topics in SSB could easily belong in General Discussion. I see very little inflammatory or controversial material that warrant protection. This could be solved in many ways, be it dissolving SSB or simply doing a better job moderating the forum. 2. I don't like the idea of shifting the personal dilemma topics into the Clan Commons forum. As it is, that forum is about Temple as a community rather than the individual. So I propose we make a support group subforum - a formal or informal safe space where people can help each other through a rough time. As part of the Clan Commons forum, it wouldn't be visible to guests. It can also create a bridge between the polarizing gender forums, which I know some members here don't want any part of. |

I'd be more for that than for the current setup, because, you are correct, the Clan Commons forum is more about Temple lore. However, we've shunted picture topics, meetup topics, and personal topics there fairly often, so if we replaced SSB with a default but members-only forum for Kradenette life, that would, I think, still be better. Like... Clan Commons + Clans, then GD with Kradenette Life (or whatever you call it) subforum.

Help forums (or pseudo help forum in ths case?) can work well from what I've seen. Just some topics do still require a little more reassurance replies will be mature and not overly judging just to emphasize a more helpful atmosphere (not to say that that will be needed in a place like temple), but perhaps the SSB topic tag could still be implemented for more sensitive matters? And ninja'd by a poll. ;>_> That sounds rather odd. But sure, why not, I like the idea. |

I'm quite in favour of that~ EDIT: I meant the suggestion in the poll, though Aevis' addition works too. |

A Support opt-in forum also makes more sense. Topics to do with society/the world are everyone's business, but tackling someone's tough personal issues is something entirely different. ^^; |

Jenna's request seemed to come across as more of a help forum tone, or to me anyways. But hey, more things to consider, I suppose. |

Have to admit, I laughed pretty damn hard at the final option in the poll, for no particular reason. Sounds like a good idea though, I'm for it. Might even have to get myself the mask for SSB if that goes through =P |

Well the reason I had stated psuedo-help forum was because 'group support' was used and well that made me think, quite simply 'support group' for, like, life issues or whathaveyou of the people on the forum. And isn't advice or lending an ear an eventual action when people have problems? Well it could be used for that and keeping spirits high, vents etc.. I dunno, more than likely I just interpreted it incorrectly. ^^; Then again it may seem redundant to even mention implementing a help forum as blogs seem to cover that specific niché well enough, when life matters are mentioned there, I suppose. |
