http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/obsidian/project-eternity I'm just going to leave that there. In short, the developers of most of the best PC RPGs ever made like Baldur's Gate, Planescape: Torment, the early Fallouts and so on have banded together and are now trying to create an entirely new world, setting, and system with which to go back and try to make a game in that vein. If you're anything like me, who claims most of those games as his favourites, then that's all you need to hear to drop some money on it. I already have. It needed 1.1 million in 31 days, but it's still the first 24 hours and it has 800k. It's going to go ahead. But that doesn't mean you shouldn't support it anyway. |

I'm not interested much in this game, but what I am interested in seeing is whether Obsidian will actually produce something complete and not a bug-riddled mess, since they don't have a publisher forcing their hand. We'll see if their blame games were truly legitimate. |

That's as much my curiosity as well, Crash. Let's see how they handle it given their own personally appointed deadline. So after only a day and a bit it's at 1.2 million, so anything extra will just further the production values and add more content. Still, that's probably the fastest Kickstarter money I've ever seen. The internet has spoken. |

Pledge 1000 or more: Design an EPIC WEAPON. Am I the only one who wished I had 1000 bucks to throw at this? This game would officially have the Wheat Sword, and it would be amazing. |

Although honestly, this is Obsidian so I'm not expecting much. Hopefully it'll actually be complete and mostly bug-free since it's based on donations and other companies are working with them. |

The thing about Obsidian games is that if publishers gave them just three to six more months on all their projects, they would be the best goddamn games ever. That's why I want to believe that skipping those deadlines and organising everything themselves directly will bring out their best, especially in a project that is very much their forte. Even the buggy Obsidian games are still great games with interesting worlds and stories, after all. |

the prospect of getting the Wheat Sword in the game aside, it's always been my thought that a KS project like this doesn't really need your money anymore after it has already reached its goal, especially since it's from such a high-profile group. I would much rather send my money to a smaller, lesser-known project (that looks good and interests me, of course) that really really needs the help instead. Though I can understand still giving if you just want to get that free copy of the game once it's done. |

I did post this before it completed its goals, so I just wanted to make absolutely sure that people knew about it so it would make it over the line. It didn't need my help, but hey, just doing my part. Like Crash says, there is now no compulsion to pay for more, even though they'll probably add more stuff if they have more budget to work with, so do feel free to take your money elsewhere. |

Clearly we should make a Temple kickstarter to get Ryu $1000 to donate to that kickstarter. Because would that not be awesome? |

"Attention, all Wheat Sword Enthusiasts. We are looking to garner $1000 to donate in turn to the Project Eternity Kickstarter. This is so that we may get the Wheat Sword included in an actual game." What rewards would we offer, though? |

What could we offer? If we were able to offer anything of value, we'd just make the donations ourselves through that. The only thing we can truly offer is the satisfaction of seeing the goddamn Wheat Sword in an RPG. |
