SPOILER FOR THE ANIME NOT FOR THE LIGHT NOVEL DO YOU GUYS HAVE THE MEMORY SPANS OF GOLDFISHES OR SOMETHING yeah that wasnt explained very well at all. i dont even understand why he attacked in the first place, something about getting a bonus item?
I can't spoil the light novels \o/ Yeah apparently if you land the killing blow on a boss you get a bonus item which was that nightmare coat
then why did he go in first
rather than last

Spoiler: click to toggle Well, he did stay behind at first, and gave only commands. I assume he thought he could kill it by the time he went in, but since the attack patterns or whatever were different, he got caught off guard and just exploded

Spoiler: click to toggle He was the leader of squad A, which was switching with squad B to tank the boss. He stood back to issue commands, but because he "knew" the boss' attack patterns, he was confident that he could handle the rest himself, and jumped in. I don't think he made it to the higher floors that Kirito made it to, so he didn't know how to respond to a katana attack.

ep 3 spoilers lol no they didnt. i havent even read the light novels but sachi was given maybe 2 minutes of screentime before she died. i love character deaths, but this episode was so rushed that it wasnt even tragic. i really wish they'd spent more than half an episode on that.

Spoiler: click to toggle i guess, but wasnt it spread over a much longer period of time in the light novel?. i feel that she was supposed to be a kind of sad and semi-anonymous death to make kirito more sad and broody and driven to end the game, but she just wasn't around long enough to make as much as an impact on us as she did on him.

slight LN spoilers Kirito will constantly recall back to his time in the guild in the future, so they may flashback to events that happened later on. He was also only with that guild for about a month before they all died, not much time at all.

Ep 3 Well, for a one-episode take on it, I guess it was surprisingly good. But it still should have been split into two episodes, the first ending with the trap and Sachi's death. My biggest complaint is that in the way the anime did it, Kirito hiding his level and experience didn't really have much to do with everyone dying since the guy who opened the treasure chest jumped on it as soon as he saw it. If you want to know what I mean: LN spoilers... I guess. More like added context
In the Light Novel, Kirito, knowing that that particular dungeon was infamous for nasty traps, suggested that they not open it in case of traps. But he didn't say anything about the dungeon being known by the high-level players as a trap dungeon because he didn't want to reveal his experience. So the party took a vote, and Kirito was outvoted.
In the anime, he pretty much didn't have time to react before the chest was already opened. As far as I'm concerned, that's kind of a BIG DEAL.
On the bright side, yes Maribel, we got to see Argo! I was pretty happy about that. I think her voice really fit well with her character.  |

Unlike last episode, which I didn't think felt as rushed as people who've read the LN did, I thought this episode did feel rushed, but if Ryu says they pretty much covered everything important then the only thing they could have included is Kirito's fight with the boss, but I guess that's not as important as everything they included. *shrug*

Spoiler: click to toggle Yeah, They did leave out the part where that was a vote, and how only Kirito and Sachi didn't want to open it. They also rushed the conversation afterwards, where Keita accused Kirito of being a beater, asking him why only he survived, before he threw himself off the castle. They did show the castle, and a vague shout of "You beater" but nothing more
Edit: Also, the novel didn't show the fight with the boss either. It cut to afterwards, Kirito was saying that this was the first time his HP fell into the red, and he used all but one of his healing crystals to beat it.

He doesn't continue getting 8 levels a month. If you average out his final level and ending time spent in Aincrad, it's more like 4 levels a month.
This is why I find the 8 levels in one month fairly rediculous.

Episode 3 ....Wait, people are arguing that this wasn't rushed? Let's see here... Spoilers For LN That should have been Spoilers for Ep 3
>They don't particurally explain why Kirito even joins the BCotFM, just gloss over it.
>They don't explain that this episode takes place over two time frames, one when Kirito is on one of the higher floors, and then during the BCotFM incident.
>Speaking of two time frames, they left out that Kirito, before trying to fight Nicholas, was desperately trying to gain levels.
>They don't explain why he's trying to level up at night, nor that he has to stop doing it when Sachi starts sleeping in his room.
>They don't explain that you can't see other peoples levels very well.
>They don't explain that Kirito knew that that chest probably had a trap because the dungeon in general is known as a trap filled dungeon. See Above: Not voting for the chest.
>They skip the entire section where Kirito notices the combined inventory window tht he shares with Sachi.
>They make it seem like Kirito drew his sword to fight the incoming SDA members, when he was actually about to fight off Klein.
>They don't even mention that it was the first time Kirito's health had fallen into the red section, and that he was completely out of crystals.
>They skip an entire section where Kirito falls into despair upon reading the Revival items description, where he attempts to go as far as stomping on the item to destroy it.

All that said, I was glad to see Argo, and her voice fit her pretty well.Another thing that was executed well was Sachi voicing the words. at the end. EDIT: Also, him leveling up 8 levels in that single month isn't really that big of a concern. You forget to take into account the higher levels will take him longer. That's another thing the left out when LN Spoiler They showed Kirito struggling for two extra levels at 69 and 70. If you think about it, his final level is about 90. So 45 would be about the halfway point level number wise. |

Meh, I still think eight's a lot, even though it get's more difficult later.
Also, they give the dates and locations that the events occur in briefly, so that part is "explained".
