Exactly! You simply don't like it. Your bored by it. It sucks to you. And that's all fine! My only problem with your critique was the replayability argument. It just doesn't work logically on a game like Minecraft. How should I put this, something like a CoD campaign you could say is built like a straight line. There's a definitive start and a definitive ending. I'd say something like Minecraft is built more a like a circle. So yeah it was nothing personal man, I just couldn't get your argument out of my mind. |

Yeah, but the loop causes the problems. In something with an actual campaign you'd have the chance to do it again but better, or with different choices. In Minecraft I can start playing, and then stop. Because in that second I would have experienced all the choices that the game offers to you. It's just not interesting enough to have true replay value. |

I think you can distinguish between replayability as "being able to do what you enjoy over and over" and as "do it again, but here's a bunch of new features or variables to explore." Minecraft falls into the first category, I think (correct me if I'm wrong -- along with stuff like Terraria (basically the same) or like, Dynasty Warriors), whereas something like a Tales of game which gives you grade to carry over stuff, New Game+ stuff in Dark Souls II (new enemies and items with the difficulty jump), or making different narrative choices and seeing how the story changes (Bioware RPGs, for example). |

Sound the horn and call the cry: "How many of them can we make die?"

Yeah, that's a good way to distinguish them, I think. If you think about replay value as being just NG+ options, then yes, Catman's assessment is correct; that doesn't change the fact, though, that plenty of people have put more hours into a single Minecraft map than multiple playthroughs of Dark Souls or Dragon Age. It just appeals to different playing preferences. Single-player Minecraft does tend to drop off in entertainment pretty quickly for me, granted. I could sink tons of time into a good multiplayer server, though. |

Well with Minecraft and Terraria having random generation, on both a micro and macro level (and in Minecraft in particular) the situations you have will be different enough each time to fall into the latter category better than the first, ESPECIALLY compared to Tales, where you're playing the exact same storyline only this time you are much higher level. For example let's say you end up spawned in an area where there are no trees at all. Your play experience is going to be significantly different, because you'll have to start out collecting completely different resources than otherwise in order to get things going. Or let's say you start on a small archipelago with few resources and every direction is ocean. That play is also going to be much different than the "typical" Minecraft game. |

Oh yeah, how could I forget? I think Minecraft is just Legos for adults. Yeah kids play it too but I get the feeling if it was socially acceptable adults would be playing with Legos and not Minecraft. |

That's a [radio edit]ing awesome analogy! I like minecraft, but only on giant servers where I can checkout all the awesome stuff people have made so I can put a little house next to it. I'm too uncreative for single player :S |

Hey, the game gives you no valuable reason to keep playing. Therefore the choice can be made to not play. |

There's nothing worth achieving. I don't want to play a game I can't win. And everyone knows making your own goals is dumb. |

...And, so, what do you intend to achieve as an end goal with your life? If making your own goals is "dumb" then, what? How can you want someone else to tell you what your goals are in everything? I can't fathom the lack of any sort of independent thought your statement implies as intelligent living. |

I want to become the champion of the multiverse; that would assumedly involve everyone in existence agreeing that you are the champion, due to some form of competition that you've won. |

So, by this logic, real life isn't worth playing. You should clearly stop playing Real Life since it's basically playing Minecraft on Hardcore mode. |
