Of course not! It's not polite. I haven't put anyone on ignore because if someone has something to say be it polite or not I want to see it. So I question why we need the ignore feature if it's unnecessary. Can't we just get rid of that impolite feature? |

We should keep it. If users get offended by each other, it means they don't have to communicate with each other. Also, forgive my rudeness Thorion, but are you sure you don't just want it gone because there are people ignoring you? [I don't know if there are or not, but that's just the impression I'm getting]. |

It's better to talk things out than to just ignore each other like children. |

I am quite a sensitive person and I like many people here in order to not leave for the shenanigans of a few people here. Therefore the ignore feature is very helpful. And believe me when tensions are high it will be very hard to talk things out. Before I left for two years I really tried to make things up with another user but all that happened was many insults hurled at me. Even when I temporarily only posted in the cbox (now sbox) he said nasty things towards me. Two years later we are best friends. Sometimes it's all right to have silence. |

Yes, it is. When people come together, there will inevitably be people YOU DO NOT LIKE. You just don't mix, they piss you off, you piss them off, so to avoid things getting out of hand, you put them on ignore, and everything is fine. I have had issues with people in the past, and keeping them on ignore is much better than the alternative of having to put up with them. Please tell me that you are not so naïve to think that we are all friends under Kraden's magnificent beard or something. There have been times were people on this forum have pissed me off to the extent that I don't want to have anything else to do with them. If I REALLY need to see what they're talking about, I use the View-Ignored-Post feature and leave it at that. If you don't want to utilize your ignore list, that's fine. But for some people, it's a life saver. Like me. By slapping people on ignore, I'm far less able to do something I'll regret. |

No, we are not all friends under whatever deity you worships random body part but not using the ignore feature just proves how much strength one has to put up with annoying people. Just ignoring them is avoiding the issue that can be solved by talking about, asking for them to stop insulting you. Talking goes a long way, ignoring does not. |

The last thing you want to do is talk things over with someone who you just spent the last few days getting into world class pissing contests and insult wars. It's impossible. YOU CAN'T DO IT without help, and most of the time, you don't want to do it when the last thing he said to you was "you're a fat [radio edit]ing bitch who needs to eat shit and crawl into a ditch and die". The ignore features gives the ability to let things cool off for a time without the risk of a flare up. At which point, once tempers have settled, THEN you can try to talk things over. So please, keep the Ignore Feature. It's a life saver. |

Thorion, you may not like or use the Ignore feature, and I don't, either. But a great part of this tolerance and kindness that you're speaking around here is being able to accept views that are not your own. In this case, you have to accept that not everyone is willing to deal with people on the level you do in that particular way. It is okay for people to Ignore, as long as it does not hurt others -- that is how they have chosen to browse Temple, and it would be improper to tell them to do so any other way. |

Keep in mind that sometimes, people who ignore each other do in fact go back and talk it out. However, sometimes emotions are too high for that. |
