I've been doing quests for the Thieves Guild. I really wanted to destroy them and help the city more, everyone was complaining about the guild. I didn't see an option to destroy the guild.... if I can't beat them, join them?

Guys, did Skyrim get rideable dragons by default this time or will we have to wait for a mod like Oblivion's awesome Akatosh Mount?

Just curious.

Dragons are the big bad evil thing you have to kill.

For story reasons, that's a no.

Anywho, just did something quite fun...

Ice Spike in one hand.
Lightning Bolt in the other.
Fire Breath equipped.
Unleash all at once. It's so fun.

That sounds like a lot of fun, Role. I feel like I'm suffering the results of being too diverse in what I do - I'm about Level 20 with the difficulty on Adept, but I feel like I just can't kill anything at my level. Problem is that I went light armour so I don't have a great deal of durability, yet I also went 1h swords and shields so I lack serious killing power. Not focusing on magic so that option is gone, and while my sneak and archery is pretty high, that still feels a little lackluster and I haven't found any powerful bows as such. Couple that with still using Lydia as a companion who lacks damage output and is instead a tank, and have a total lack of dogs backing me up, and yeah. I feel pretty weak. Got a lot of stuff done and enjoying my time immensely but I just feel like I could have made some better choices, so I'm finally going to give in to the little voice in the back of my head and do what I did a thousand times in Morrowind - reroll.

So my new character is probably going to be a Dark Elf focusing on magic. Do the stuff at the College, maybe the Bard school as well, and help out the Stormcloaks because the Empire sucks these days and I don't want to support people who live under the rule of the goddamn High/Wood Elf alliance. Seriously, that's just EMBARRASSING. We'll see if I enjoy it even more with the diversity of magic.

Also, I find myself loving the writing and the story of the game. I mean, I'm not doing much in the way of the main quests, but I love the whole struggle of the Nords for independence, love the Forsworn trying to find their own way in the Reaches, love that the Empire is kind of splitting apart at the seams because it only exists at the whim/convenience of the Elves who kicked their ass... hell, I love that the Elves kicked their ass. I mean, what fantasy setting ever has the Elves take up serious arms and beat a continent spanning empire? It pretty much never happens, they're always the oppressed minority (and Skyrim still HAS that element as well, what with the Dunmer generally reviled by the Nords).

Mmm. Damn I love this game. >_>

Made myself a Dark Elf mage. It's incredibly satisfying just getting my two-handed hadoken of lightning on.

Thanks Poui.

So, playing GIRLAF, for you LoL players. BAsically, dual wielding WAR AXES because Axes are yay! I have 53 in One Handed which is miles ahead of everything else, nothing of which has reached 40 yet. I am putting ALL THE LEVELS into HP because BERSERKER. I charge in with my Light Armor (because OLAF) and generally [radio edit] SHIT UP. I then proceed to kick MASSIVE ASS.

I have slain 4 dragons.

I am having the same problem with my character. I can't take on anything one on one or I'll die. I am a Dark Elf who majors in sneak, but have my magics at about 50. My archery and one-hand are at 35ish. Basically, I take on every situation by sneaking behind and using the cool slit throat animation. I either slit their throats with my trusty dagger or weaken them with arrows and blow up their face with a fire rune or ball. I save and restart a bunch, if things don't go as planned. I still can't use shout because I haven't done any main quests. Im level 29... magic, sneak, lock picking, and pick pocketing progresses your level really quick. I want to remake a tanky character and just smash some heads. I'll probably do that after I go through the Dark Brotherhood with my current character. Every quest has been great... I find my self getting side tracked by everything. I read a book, a random quest pops up. Someone challenge me to a drinking contest, a random quest pops up. Someone is sad and I talk to them, a random quest pops up. It feels endless, my journal is always filled. That's pretty much been my experience thus far. I have around 20 hours played since release date. ^^

Lol... I married some girl out of curiosity. She is really annoying, always addresses me as "my love". I want to kill her off, but she is too nice.

Yeah, this game will really punish you if you're not focusing properly.

If you're doing the sneaking/1H combat/Archery thing, YOU NEED TO BE STEALTHY. If you're not relying on stealth like you should, you'll die every time. As such, it's probably a really good idea to learn how to properly play a stealthy character - don't even think about magic perks for a while. Stick with Light Armor (protection), sneak (ambush!), bows (dishing out damage!), and 1H Swords (OSHI THEY GOT CLOSE!)

Pickpocket and Lockpick are good secondary skills. But don't bother with magic unless you're gonna go Warmage, and even then, only choose one school. If you're going multischool, you'll want a pure mage.

I am looking forward to playing this properly once I can fix my mouse issues. The y axis is horribly slow. *Hunts on Google for solutions*

I am still undecided about what the heck to do with my character >:

IIRC, you can change the sensitivity in the options menu - even for console versions.

In other news, I highly recommend smithing for any physical class. If you're light armor, still do the heavy armor tree - once you hit 100, you can get the best light armor in the game. What you'll be after is the weapons, not the armor here, since you're probably going to be stealthy if you're a light armor user - until you get to dragonscale gear, the bonuses from the Thieves Guild and Dark Brotherhood Armor are probably better for you.

Really wish we could make Dragon Weapons, to be honest. Also Arrows. Making arrows would be awesome. Also, I've heard rumors of Bathesda looking into mods for the console version, but... I dunno how credible that is. Seems kinda farfetched to me, you know?

I've shifted to a full Dark Elf mage now, and stuff is cash. Decided to check out entirely different parts of the continent and I'm just having fun wandering around and doing nothing in particular. Basically putting everything into Destruction and killing stuff with fire, plus making money with Enchanting and checking out the other magic schools just for cool stuff (usually buff up before heading into combat and immolating everything, for example). I'm looking at buying a house somewhere though - my other character had the one in Whiterun but I wanted to set up shop somewhere else as well/first, perhaps somewhere bigger. I'm generally just wandering and questing my way towards the general direction of Winterhold so I can join the College there.

Also, Ulta, consider getting Stamina so you can power attack more often. That's REAL berserking right there.

Thanks Role, but the options menu doesn't let one change the sensitivity for e x and y axis separately, which is what I needed to do D: Messing about in the .ini file helped enough to make it playable though.

I am a High Elf at the minute, and was planning on magin'-it-up, but sneaking is fun so far ;_;

My characters are:

Altmer Mage in Marida
Bosmer Thief in Fleta
Redguard Fighter in Alienne
Will probably have an Orc Assassin.

After playing all four, I'll make a Nord who works in the skills I'm best with, my "Uber" so to speak.
