My first playthrough of an Elder Scrolls game always uses the "intended" race. After that I can go crazy though. |

Until I started this game I didn't realize there was an "intended" race. I mean, obviously Imperials were the natives in Oblivion, but it didn't occur to me that it was "intended" I would do that, if there were another game where you were intended to be a redguard. =D |

So, fire breath or ice breath, you ask? Well, it all depends on the situation. See any oily substance on the ground or a oil lantern nearby? Ignite it with Fire Breath, watch your foes asplode. Other than that, Ice breath is handy as hell to have, as it slows them down as well. Also consider Ice Form. Being attacked from multiple sides? Freeze one, kill the other, then mop up the rest. Works well against those pesky mages who tend to ignore your oversmith'd daedric armor. @Intended Race: I never tend to really do an "intended race" run, not at first. What I tend to do is pic races good in the fortes of each of the main guilds, then go try my hands at those, and learn the playstyles. From there, I learn which movesets I like and which I don't. THEN I pick the intended race. My Dunmer in Morrowind, my future Nord in skyrim... They're not just standard characters like the others - they're the ones peaked and optimized and with all the stuff I tend to like. I pick and choose weapon/armor classes I enjoyed and don't bother with the stuff I sucked at. This way, as I play them, they truly feel legendary. |

I pick a race depending on racian benefits. Dark Elf for me thanks to the 50% fire resistance, which helps nicely when you're a vampire. As for shouts, I use Odahving outdoors, and FUS RO DAH! indoors. |

Aye, race is a pretty big factor here, too. You'd be nuts not to use a High Elf for a pure mage, for example. While other races can definitely go Sword-and-spell, it's almost like Altmer were pretty much designed around spells-only gameplay... By the way, which standing stones do y'all use? Both my thief and my warrior nab the Steed Stone. No armor restrictions, +100 carrying capacity? YES PLEASE! Not sure what to get for my mage, though... |

Mage Stone. Nothing like quick spell boosts. Apprentice is nice and all...but the drawbacks hurt. |

Well, the stones that help you level up are nice and all, but other than those four, I'm looking into what to move on to for my characters. You can only level up so many times, you know? The Steed stone's freaking amazing... the Tower? Freaking useless. I'd think the shadow and ritual stones would be better if they were constant effects rather than powers... And... the Atronoch and Apprentice... those drawbacks are painful... Another Question: What enchantments do you guys recommend? I'll definitely be getting Resist Magic, probably up to 75% or something (it caps at 85, and with two enchants per item post-perk, that leaves me with several other choices as well). This is for my physical character, so they've got crazy oversmith'd Daedric Gear, including two Daedric Battleaxes (one with Notch's Enchantment and Soul Trap, the other for actual battle use). Suggestions? |

i use steed/lord, and also...<_< Khaajit dragonborn I take them apart with my daedric smithed gauntlets and enchants adding to my claws....and my legendary flaming/health leech daedric bow, for when they refuse to land. For shouts...fire breath or ice form, unless i'm outside, then call storm. |

Hmm...I'm a pure mage, with Dawnbreaker is reserve for emergencys, so all my enchantments are geared towards magica regen...But I'd go with stamina regen if you're using a battleaxe. |

http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Lore:Great_War#The_Great_War Read that section, and the one right after it. WELL SHIT. I'm glad my Redguard sided with the rebellion! I'd be pissed too if my homeland got gutted like that! |
