Temple of Kraden News: Welcome to the Temple of Kraden! ------ All worshipers may enter the Most Holy Place in single file, reflecting on the bountiful blessing Kraden hath provided unto him or herself since their last visit. Head coverings are not necessary, as true penitence and humility are found within. The Priests and Priestesses of Kraden endeavor to remind all that fresh orange juice is heavily preferred; only whores use frozen.
Greetings, heathen. Perhaps some fortuitous blessing of Kraden's grace hath led you to our humble Temple, or perhaps you are simply curious about this strange and wonderful cult. Should you be willing - and dare to hope - to achieve enlightenment, the door opens before you. Lo! Leave your old life behind! For once you step through, you become something more than just yourself.

You become a Kradenette.

Are you willing to make the rapturous plunge? Do you have what it takes?

And to be honest, there aren't even 20 people who voted in the for/against categories. 20 is straight up too high.

k. 20 was a random number thrown out by satty. What about 12? That isn't a wholly unreasonable number at all.

Do we even need a number though? Why do we have to put a number on it at all?

because a quantitative measure is better than a qualitative one, when a measurement is required. Quantitative ones are objective, qualitative ones are subjective. Quantitative is "we need ten or more", qualitative is "no, this theme week sucks, we're not doing it"

Massive ones. Otherwise, the effect is a few people change their name for something that most people don't care about.

Massive and less frequent > small and often

But who says there has to be a specific number of people to do a theme week?

I don't think there has to be a specific number, but I think it makes more sense if their thought out of in advance and more people can get on the bandwagon.

Here's a rough idea I thought up. It could undoubtedly use refining, but try the basics on for size.

- Theme weeks must be registered (a topic made at least a week in advance with sign-ups) if people want admins to approve name changes.
- There would be a limit of two theme weeks a month. This does not mean that there will be two theme weeks every month. It means that, at most, people can propose no more than two in a month.

Wheey! I've became a human being!! I am very handsam!

As much as it pains me, maybe we should also limit them to actually being only a week long now?

And I feel like two per month is more than we actually have currently anyway.

To be fair, Crash, they have been lately. Even the ones I run I wrap up.

That's how the past few have been, for the most part. Most people request their names changed back after one week has past. Me, though, I'm not going around and manually changing all the names back myself because some people can't remember how long a week lasts.

And like it has been said before, the poll says the Temple prefers big theme weeks to small ones. I prefer ribs to steak. I still like both. Not that I'm saying it's only 10% of the Temple saying they want to tone it down, I'm just saying the poll doesn't say everyone hates small weeks.
This.

I like Draco's suggestion; it doesn't limit the creativity and fun, but leaves something special to it. Crash's too, but I have to admit I can't remember the last a theme week went over a week recently, unless my memory's bad.

Yeah, allowing two per month doesn't seem to be trimming the number of theme weeks at all.

Draco's suggestion gets my support as well. Make babies, not war!

EDIT: But if each theme week actually lasts a week, the duration will be trimmed, anyway.

Allowing two per month != actually having two per month.

<_< The proposal being suggested is exactly what we have now.

I mean, if nothing's going to change, that's fine, but don't wrap it up in shiny paper and try to pass it off as something new.

There is a subtle difference, being that these things will actually be enforced/regulated, which is really all anyone seems to want at this point.
