I don't like the idea of putting numbers of any sort to theme weeks. >.> It seems entirely arbitrary and pointless. |

I dunno, I like it. It makes it so that there's a smaller chance of oversaturation, not to mention that if we've got a decent amount of people involved the subject might not be so ridiculously obscure. |

I personally disagree. Even setting aside the fact that I don't believe there should be a limit at all, 20? Really? That's over 1/5th of the generally active userbase and is much too high in my opinion. Completely disregarding the fact that theme weeks have been making a bunch of compromises to remove the alienation, such as including the person's usual name in their member title or gender or signature to prevent the confusion. To me, this seems completely unnecessary. They've worked fine until now, throwing in random conditions now would be completely unnecessary. So sorry, but I'm in complete disagreement.

It just seems to me if it's just like, 5 people doing the "theme week" then...Well, good for you guys, I guess? There's no real "theme" going on, you guys just changed stuff around. It's like wearing a costume. On Halloween, it's awesome. Everybody can and should totally dress up as somebody else. Dressing up in costumes with just a few of your friends and walking around town? Weird. |

because it's [radio edit]ing irritating when someone changes their username eighteen times in a year so they can participate in some stupid theme week with four other people that no one else gives a shit about. that's why there should be a limit. congrats that there are six other people on the Temple that like your niche tentacle assrape with sheep anime. No one wants to see you change your name to Rodolfo the child tentacle master. |

I don't think I've ever seen a namechange event with as few as four people. The crusher/destroyer thing excepted, but I'm counting that to my own three months already.
>Man Week >Animorphs Week What was that, sorry?

Okay, and that's fine, but nobody's saying you have to participate anyway. And then there's
So yeah. And also why should you care if you think it's pointless? I find a lot of things other people do irritating, but I can and do live with it. I honestly feel it's not asking too much to say that you could really just let it be. |

I think it's the name changes that's the problem guys. I'm a big fan of theme weeks, and am willing to put up with figuring out who's who when they happen once in a while, but when they happen every month the amount of fun generated =/= a bearable amount of confusion. Especially when the week is centered on something unfamiliar to everyone but a small group of people. =\ I think we can still have smaller weeks if they're just limited to avatar and signature changes. |

Jenna, isn't that the entire reason we compromised to put our regular usernames somewhere in our profiles during theme weeks? |

That actually is the reason we put it there. We already compromised on this issue, can we please not draw it up again? >.> When I participated in the poll for this thread I was unaware it was with the purpose of determining limitations on something. |

Yeah, putting your username as your title is a nice thought, but it's been blown off by various parties. I really appreciate everyone who was considerate of that suggestion though. Y'all are awesome. |

I participated, that doesn't really change the fact that I think they're dumb in general. The only theme weeks that I can remember taking part of in my years here are Pokemon, Man Week, Animorphs, Harry Potter, and a Christmas one. They were all either massive, temple-wide events or a man forum/Mars Clan events. And I made an exaggeration! Big whoop, yay hyperbole. I would think that the average person at the Temple would be intelligent enough to understand that I didn't really mean that there were actually theme weeks with four people in them, but I suppose that I shouldn't take that for granted. Or, there's the alternative, that you knew exactly what I was doing and still chose to make that point, but, eh, whatever. It's just an irritating annoyance for the people that aren't involved, and I'm pretty sure that the results of this poll reflect that. It's not like I'm asking that the minority be catered to here. Small theme weeks are an irritation for the majority of the populace of the Temple. And I'm sorry if I think that this is ridiculous |

So just because you think what someone else does is ridiculous, despite it not harming you in any meaningful way, you have the right to make him stop? |

I'd be lying if I said bigger weeks weren't more fun and interesting than smaller, but I still think they have a place and I definitely disagree with setting a limit. Maybe people just need to be more rational about weeks. I mean, the whole Gilgamesh week as an example came out of nowhere and was like 'Really? You're going to change your name just like that?...Uh, okay then.' I get it was a kind of silly fun but I question if it should have dragged on. I mean, you really didn't see people do much with it. :U Weeks are at their best when activites are planned and it's more than just people changing their names, which is always an issue when it's a lesser crowd because there's obviously less motivation to do that. You're not gonna have as many people to take part in say, fanart dump threads. And they do need to be something special rather than just churned out every few weeks or so like a Guitar Hero game. I don't mind people changing their names so long as they just point out who they really are, which you guys are nice and considerate about~ Personally, I'm not irritated by small weeks. I prefer big ones because I find those to be more fun, but small weeks aren't annoying unless they keep happening, and that's not so much the fault of ToK members as it is people just have had a fair few reasons to change names recently. (Sailor Moon and Disgaea week were justified IMO) Also guys, let's take a breath and relax here. Were, I appreciate you might despise ToK!Weeks but you should know better than to belittle them in such an opinionated manner. Be respectful of why people do them, please, even if you don't agree. And guys, don't get angry in response, that won't help you even if you believe it will. |

Okay, fine, I'll go through them. TheyAreKris: Kris week, venus clan event, had a large number of participants. TheyAreNexmas: Kradenmas event, had a large number of participants. Ellimist: As you just pointed out, Animorphs week, mars clan event, name was picked by you as I recall, had a decent number of participants. Leonidas I: Man week, had a massive number of participants. Shinx: Pokemon week, had a large number of participants. Captain Jack Harkness: Doctor Who week. I'll admit, this one was somewhat small. Recette Lemongrass: Mod abuse'd. Aramis: NISA Week, had a decent number of participants. Girugamesh/Ringamesh: Both Boyd Week, which was completely spontaneous and had a large number of participants. When I first changed to Girugamesh, I was expecting it to be my 3 month change. TANNON THE CRUSHER: 3 month change. Yuukon: 3 month change that I forgot to change back to when I requested to be changed back from my mod abuse'd name. All others have been within boundaries. Your point of small weeks doesn't really hold up here, sorry.

I don't even know what NISA is. I still don't. <_< Isn't that being exclusionary, rather than something everyone in the Temple can be involved with? Since, when you have name changes, it makes it an official Temple thing. And you might have say, six people involved in one, and then seven people running another one, maybe nine running another - it just seems a bit excessive to me. Also, NISA week was 14 people. I don't think you would have much trouble getting 20. And if you can't find 20 people interested, does that really make it a Temple thing, or is it something for you and your friends? Tan, I know many of those weeks... but still, having eleven distinct name changes in a little over a year? Do you at least see our perspective on this, where it can be a little confusing? I mean, mod abuse aside, I've had five name changes that I can remember: David for Man week, Gardevoir twice for Pokemon week, Satty Claus for Christmas, and Mithos for Tales week. For me, it's like Clans and Tribes. Clans are a huge official Temple thing, and Tribes are smaller, member-run things. :/ |
