I would try to reach a compromise that does not force the view of marginalization on the other 19. Currently, I think Ulta's solution, which still allows for name-change Weeks but enforces username display in the user's title and caps the number of Weeks per month, is the best solution that has been offered in this topic so far, including Saturos'. In this compromise, elements of what both groups want are retained. It really is an ideal solution, and I love it and will champion it. Also, Boyd, I had forgotten about that little stint. I'm glad you brought it up. Surely you can accept the fact that humans are capable of change. After being on the "victim" side of this issue, I can understand perfectly well why you were so annoyed. If I were given the opportunity to be Darcobolt again and have the same color username as her (which is what happened before), I would not take up that offer, because I know what it's like to be confused between users now. In other words, I've become a better person, at least in that regard - as Simple has hinted at, I've learned from the past. >_> |

I'm gonna be honest, the Dracobolt/Darcobolt thing was during my first few months at the Temple, and I though Draco just kept changing clans. |

I think you found out what we've been doing all this time. Except we've been lax about enforcing name consistency. |

How would we determine which people got to use that month's theme weeks, though? And would they need a required number of participants, or could people call in and book a theme week before even having anyone committed? |

YEah true, simple. But the main point of contention seems to be the first one not being followed. Okay, how about this. Let's adjourn this. It's not over; We're not finished with the issue. We're doing what we did with the Sbox. We're going to take a few months under the above rule, say four, and then we see if people still find an issue with this. Or do we want to add a number of minimum? Then let's say a theme week must MINIMALLY have 15 members participate to be official. It's absically my previous compromise idea. We want to take this and run with it for a while? Please? EDIT: Important thing I forgot - a theme week must be announced a full week before they happen. And we don't want people to -have- to have a themew eek every month, it would be... the exact OPPOSITE of what you're trying to accomplish. So saying we should have a vote on which one every month is not a notion that I believe truly answers what we're trying to do here. |

And to specify, Ulta does not mean in any way that Weeks with less than 15 people are prohibited; they just can't have their free name change. Which probably means that you can still change your name but be stuck with it for three months if you really want to.

Also, if you don't request your name changed back by the end of the week and I have to track you down and nag you over it, I get to ban you.

Just saying, that's not really a compromise in terms of the poll. The poll was about any rules whatsoever. It's a recurring cycle of questions @_@ How about we all just run with Satty's idea as a trial? I can see some good things about it, like increased community involvement. If it causes issues or dies out, we can always revert back. And really, do we even have a Week a month? |

Also, if a week isn't registered in advance, like has been a rule for ages, I'm not approving any name changes. Make a topic about it so I can stick it on the calendar. Say what you want about NISA week; they followed the rules, and so did Sailor Moon week. :<

@people: I edited my last post but let me reiterate here in full what I'm suggesting: 1) People should be courteous and have their username in a place everyone can readily access - this means usertitle or user's gender area of their profile. 2) Theme Weeks should be limited in number. Too many makes Gladnarel a Sadnarel and turns Fish into Sadfish. To this end, the maximum per month is two... but the recommended is one per two months, if that many at all. 3) Every theme week must be announced a full week in advance. Not necessarily what the entirety of it is (though the more info you give the better) but at least warn people that something's coming up. That way it's not a shock when they walk into Temple and have it happen. 4) If two theme weeks are announced at the same time, the one which garners the higher amount of attention (meaning more participants) wins. This does not prevent you from suggesting the same week at a later date, though it would be requested that you wait a month's time before resuggesting it. Work for everyone? |

I think in this situation it is appropriate to let the Staff decide on which idea to follow: Ulta's, Saturos', both, or neither? This situation is weighty enough that I fully expect the Staff to ensure that each and every single active Staffer has weighed in on the debate before action is taken. |

Sound the horn and call the cry: "How many of them can we make die?"

This solution sounds sensible to me. It doesn't look like we're going to get anywhere endlessly debating about it here, so I think it's best to let the staff deliberate for a while and come to a conclusion. And for the record, I also highly support Ulta's compromise. |
