Thanks Poui.

Akira Toriyama wrote and drew the manga, Dragonball. At first it was intended to be a parody of Journey to the West (which is why Goku had a tail, there was the nimbus, and he had that staff) but eventually it began to revolve more about fighting. One thing to keep in mind however, is that starting with King Piccolo Toriyama wanted the series to be done with each successive villain. However, due to the success of the show and manga, he was convinced to continue through with the Frieza and Cell sagas and ultimately the Buu saga; everything in those is canon.

IN Dragonball GT, Akira Toriyama was only an artistic consultant; there was no manga to draw an adaptation from for it and the whole thing could be considered fanfiction, if you go by the manga. In the Korean MMO made for Dragonball, Toriyama's been involved heavily, and there are (so far as I am aware) no references to GT.

The manga and the anime are basically differant series though.
As in, parralel worlds?

Thanks Poui.

No, they're not really. The anime had a lot of filler (sometimes full filler arcs with a filler arc villain and everything) usually in the form of delaying battles so they took up 15 episodes of grunting. The manga was far more compact. But they were still the same thing. >.> Except GT. GT never happened.

I wonder how many of the people who dislike GT ACTUALLY watched it.
The second half was actually really good.

Thanks Poui.

I watched it. I'm nto saying it didn't get better - it just took too long and even if it was good it's still not really canon.
