Gundam X is one of my favourite anime series. I applaud your recent image theming with it. Also, discussion of the series? I'd be up for it. |

o/ Gundam X was a lot better than I thought it'd be. I'm not really that much of a Gundam fan (the only other series I've watched are 00, a bit of SEED, and G Gundam but G doesn't even count), so I went in with my expectations fairly low, despite hearing good things about it from... people who had never watched it. I think I decided Garrod was one of the best protagonists in just the first episode, and I'm glad my opinion of him didn't change during the course of the series. He was just so epic in every way, and I love the optimist he brought into a post-apocalyptic series... even though the anime's tone in general was pretty bright. ... Surprisingly, I didn't actually care for any of the Gundams, despite being a mecha fan. The G Divider's Harmonica Cannon and the Satellite Cannon were neat, but he never used them. >:U |

Yeah, if anything was lame about the series, it was the mecha design. But the plot and characters were very well done. In fact, it was almost as if they wrote the plot to Gundam SEED (minus the parts stolen from the original series) five years earlier, and did it better. Almost. Also, I really enjoyed imagining the series as a post-apocalyptic alternative future to the original series, with the Jamil Neate being an older Amuro Ray and Lancerow Dowell being an older Char Aznable (though both share characteristics of both characters from various points in their lives). The entire thing was really fun, and I especially enjoyed the arc when he stole back Tiffa and also the Double X. I also really liked the Dolphin arc. |

Well, I never watched that much of SEED, so ¯\(º_o)/¯ From what I've seen of the plot by playing SRWJ, they don't really seem that similar, though. |

*jumps in* I was cruising around Youtube a week ago and stumbled across some really nice music from the Gundam franchise, and I've been craving a good tear-jerker recently. If I looked into Gundam, which series would you guys recommend starting with? By the way tear-jerker is just my way of describing any episodic series conveyed through audio-visual means. |

I'm kind of curous what music you listened to, Sunny. Especially since I just finished listening to a song from Gundam 00. Anyways, not sure how many Gundam fans are on this forum, and I'd honestly recommend something that's not Gundam entirely, but I'm biased so. For starting with, I'd go with... Well, since the earliest I've watched so far is Gundam X, that's about all I can recommend. 00 is okay and is the most recent, but it generally seems harder to watch older things after watching newer things. |

This one and this one. Why both include still images of nude women I do not know, but it's what tells me that I'll bawl my eyes out regardless of what version of Gundam I end up watching. (the dude in the second video crying is another good indicator). |

oh lolololol SEED Destiny. Yeah, most Gundam series get really emotional, especially towards the end when they start to kill off characters left and right. Even though it's not Gundam, I'll take this moment to advertise one of my favorite anime of all time: RahXephon. If you're looking for a tear jerker anime, watch that. It's 26 episodes long(half as long as your average Gundam series). It's a Super Robot series filled with Aztec mythology and used art and music constantly as plot devices. The series is absolutely beautiful, and one scene had me crying every time I watched it. [/derailing] Anyways, if you really want to watch Gundam, SEED would probably be a good place to start. Might want to try asking Miral, since she's the resident Gundam fangirl. |
