just did a tour of the new MvM missions. The first advanced one listed for the new map is obnouxiously hard. Seemed more like an expert mission maybe. but the other two new advanced missions were fairly easy. And on the final wave of each of them, the entire wave is a single, maxed out, crazy death machine bot that can't be slowed or pushed back. They have a crap load of health and their health bar is displayed at the top like a tank. They were actually really fun to kill for the first time. also, the spy finally has a greater purpose in MvM due to bot engies. Also also, the soldier class is now a tank-raping class because the tank now contributes to the buff banner's rage (as well as the heavy's rage, but that's less significant...) |

I have just started playing TF2 and I'm terrible at it because FPS is totally not my genre. |

There's plenty of class variations that aren't really reliant on shooting in particular, you should try out medic or demoknight. |

It's more to do with the movement and the controls than the actual shooting. Had a good run as a medic, but thus far have been most successful as sniper. |

I've had TF2 for a while now, but I don't really play that much. My friends are all really good at it, so when I play with them I just tend to get dominated, which isn't much fun. I normally play as a Soldier, since you don't really have to be accurate to kill people, or as Engineer, although I've dabbled in Scout and Pyro as well... |

Holy shit, if you want to sharpen your skills, then go to Stabby Stabby's pub. It attracts really, really good players. And, of course, a lot of really, really good Spies. Like, pro-tier Spies. I actually got to play with Stabby himself, though. <3 |

As long as you don't live in Australia there are literally 10s of good servers out there. STAR runs one with custom restrictions on minisentries and it's a blast. |

Yeah, I pub at all of the YouTube celeb's places, sans Aces because I can't stand his commentary. Of them all, STAR_'s pub and Stabby's seem to attract the highest level of players whereas Shibby attracts the most noobs. |

I've had a lot of fun due to tf2 today. And despite how much of a hassle it's been, it actually was some legitimate fun. Tux, the linux-only penguin misc item was introduced today. I wanted it, but don't have linux. I learned how to set up a partitian on my external hard drive without deleting the information that was already on it. I used ubuntu and put linux in that partitian. I booted up my PC from that linux partitian, installed steam on it, and am currently re-downloading tf2 to play soon and get my penguin. I did several things wrong throughout these steps, but fixed them as I went and didn't make any serious, unfixable, mistakes. it took several hours. but everything's working fine now. It should work. and even if it doesn't, I'm pretty happy about what I've done today. |

It is much easier to install a virtual drive for the Linux partition than it was to try to get the Buds. BTW if you do use a virtual drive to do it, make sure it's at least 20 gigs big so you can fully install TF2 (again) on it. You can speed that up quite a bit by using a portable HDD to just move the files from your Windows directories to your Linux directories; or you can redownload it from valve, your call. Takes about an hour if you did it fast, a few if you download it. But it's not hard though. |

Also as soon as you have the tux unless you feel like you want to beta test the linux Source environment (you probably don't care that much) you can just delete the partition and get your space back. |

Success. Although I ended up shooting myself in the foot and had to fix a lot of stuff that I shouldn't have. so, I finished downloading tf2, started it up, got in, got the penguin, got out. Then the the fun began. When I restarted my computer, I now had to choose between windowsXP and Ubuntu. I no longer had any interest in using Ubuntu, so I went into XP and instead of uninstalling ubuntu properly, I just starting deleting every trace of it. I'm an idiot, and you can learn from my idiocy my not doing what I just said I did. When I restarted my computer, it did not simply go to XP like I thought it would. no, it just gave me an error message. Basically, the system wanted to look for information related to ubuntu that wasn't there, and I had no way of getting into XP. So I looked up the error message on my sister's computer. found and found a fix. I needed to boot from an XP install disk and use windows recovery to fix the bios to boot properly. So I rummaged through my dad's CD cabinet and eventually found a copy. It worked, but then I found out that I needed the administrative password. I've never had to use this, from what I understand, when my computer was initially set up, it wasn't even set. I tried numerous possibilities, but to no avail. I ended up burning an iso I found to a new bootable disk that would let me edit this password. So after a long process of scary command prompts and proper responses, I cleared the administratior password so that it was blank. Then, I booted with the xp disk again, simply hit enter when it asked for my password, it gave me a message that what it was about to do might screw up my computer if something goes wrong, but nothing went wrong as far as I can tell. cuz I got in, and everything looks okay. so yeah. 10 hours of computer tampering and 1 nearly-cataclysmic computer error later, I have a penguin. |

Dood... Always uninstall first, then go and delete any leftover files. Second rule of computing, after "Restart and see if it's still not working". |
