Wheey! I've became a human being!! I am very handsam!

As you may know, Capcom held their Captivate event last week in Hawaii, showing off promotions and demos for upcoming games in their library plus other announcements like upcoming DLC for already-released games. The event is notorious for its media embargo; no reporting from other websites allowed until the Capcops say so else you risk any future invites to Capcom's events. Well, that embargo lifts this morning at 8 AM EDT, and I'll be sure to get you guys the full scoop on what went down. I just wanted to get the topic up now so the info can get out as fast as possible for you guys. I'll actually be in class when the rush of info comes so somebody else can go ahead and put up whatever they find out before I'm back. There's already been one leak of information as you'll see below.

Super Street Fighter IV (360, PS3, PC) UPDATED
All the info's out for real, now. There will actually be both the DLC update to Arcade Edition, as well as a retail version. The retail version will be compatible with players of regular SSFIV so no worries about splitting the playerbase like they temporarily did with vanilla SFIV. They say that the four new characters (Yun, Yang, Evil Ryu, Oni) will be free "out of the box" so I assume that means just for the retail version and that DLC buyers will have to pay for them. The wording of the trailer also makes me afraid that the balancing will be the same as the actual Arcade Edition, which is broken as hell (and they said they made it that way on purpose LOL). There are some updates to the Replay features, too. This is gonna be coming in the summer.

Dead Rising 2: Off the Record (360, PS3)
In Capcom's continuing effort to make as much money off of Dead Rising 2 as possible (this is the fourth game to bear the "Dead Rising 2" name), this game is a reexamination of the events in Fortune City if Frank West had come to report on the scene. New enemies, weapons, environments, story elements, and technical updates mean this isn't just a facelift of the original DR2, it seems to be a mostly-new game, just in the same location. Check out all Capcom has to say here including a reveal trailer.

Street Fighter x Tekken (360, PS3, PC)
We've got some actual gameplay from this crossover now! Along with video of gameplay, there's another video revealing that Ryu, Ken, Chun Li, Guile, and Abel will be in the game, along with Tekken characters Kazuya, Nina, Marduk, King, and Bob. This game is projected for a 2012 release. (By the way that means we can probably expect Tekken x Street Fighter before this year is over.)

Asura's Wrath (360, PS3)
In this action game, the deity Asura has been betrayed by his fellow gods. His powers removed, he is filled with rage, but he learns that he can harness his anger to bring vengeance to those who did him wrong. They're going for a more seamless narrative experience where even the cutscenes give you control over the character. Capcom's description also says the game takes a more "episodic nature--more akin to a TV drama series." No release date, but we've got a trailer.

Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City (360, PS3, PC)
This game was only announced a few weeks ago. From what I know it's a team-based shooter, so multiplayer is the focus, but it's also got a single player campaign. You play as an Umbrella Security Service member ordered to quell the chaos in Raccoon City. The story covers the same events as RE2 and RE3 and odds are it's gonna retcon a bunch of stuff. One of your targets to kill is Leon Kennedy, notably. In battles, you'll not only have to fight against opposing forces in the US Special Ops, but also against zombies and B.O.W.s. Expect this game in Winter of this year.

Dragon's Dogma (360, PS3)
This looks like it takes several cues from Monster Hunter and Demon's Souls. But it has more stylized combat--the same creators brought you RE4 and DMC4. Uhh, there's not much else for me to say for now, just watch the trailer.

Resident Evil: The Mercenaries 3D (3DS)
I honestly haven't been paying attention to this game at all so I don't know what info is new and what's not. I think the fact that it has a demo for RE: Revelations is new? I dunno, just look at the info Capcom has up.

That's all so far! I suspect we'll hear more though, I mean we know for a fact that more DLC characters will be coming for MvC3 so I figure they'd at least announce the next ones!

Dragon's Dogma originally looked like it was going to be BoFVI, but the realistic graphics say otherwise. Even if it does turn out to be BoFVI, I hope they keep the anime charm of the series instead of a lame reboot.

EDIT: Completely unrelated to BoF. What a shame.

Hah, I knew Dragon's Dogma wouldn't be a new BoF game!

Holy shit, Asura's Wrath looks intense. DD looks like it's going to be Dragon Age by Capcom; not sure how that will go over. I was unaware that Bob was considered popular among the Tekken players, since he's a less crazy Rufus. In an an attempt to be fair on the Dead Rising 2 front, Case 0 and Case West weren't really full games but more like Arcade games, though it's a moot point since Chuck > Frank. I love Mercenaries 3D, but there's nothing new on either side of the RE news, both in Merc 3D and in Operation Raccoon City.

Yeah, Asura's Wrath looks totally over-the-top. I guess it's also majorly story-driven and it seems to be the runaway hit with the press at this event. I didn't think Bob was popular either. I mean his name is plain old BOB ffs

There actually was no MvC news at Captivate; Niitsuma wasn't even present. On the SFxT front though, Ono said that in terms of SF characters in the game, not all of them will be ones that were in Street Fighter 4. Come ooooon, Sodom

Yeah how dare they try something new

You'd think with all the accusations thrown around of them "milking" franchises that people would be happy for a new IP.

Just cause your guess based on a tiny, circumstancial piece of evidence was wrong doesn't mean you should get upset

I welcome him as well, or any other characters that were Final Fight characters first

I don't see how they can milk a franchise by bringing it back from the dead after so long. >_> That's called reviving it. And for the record, there was a LOT of evidence pointing it to BoF.

1. The dragon, herp derp.
2. The heartbeat, which is a motif in the series.
3. BoFV's director tweeted that he was annoyed people had discovered what the title was already. Only BoFV's director. Not the Dead Rising or Street Fighter director or anyone else; just the BoF director.
4. The images originally looked like a world map around the dragon's wings, but this was soon tossed when it was fully revealed.
5. Capcom recently stated they want to put their more recent franchises (Resident Evil, Street Fighter) to rest for a bit to bring their older and dead franchises back to life.

I'm not even annoyed or 'upset', just disappointed when that much evidence got thrown around. >_> Something new is great. But something older after so long, IMO, is even better. Please don't assume I make judgements alone on 'small and circumstantial' evidence. =/

Also, you and Jax are both wrong; Skullomania needs to return. =P

Let this be a lesson to you concerning the producers and high-level staff of ALL of Capcom: They are master trolls. Every single one of them. Ono, Niitsuma, Mikami, Kamiya, Inafune when he was there, etc. Don't believe a single word they say, ever.

I learned that lesson when they said Resident Evil 4 was going to be exclusive to Gamecube. :awe:
