![]() Alright, mother[radio edit]ers. It's time for you guys to learn about the epicness that is Vanquish, pretty much the most amazing shooter ever. For the PS3 and 360, directed by Shinji Mikami and developed by Platinum Games. The game is pretty much the most awesome thing ever, with the plot parodying FPS ones and gameplay that's pretty much Bayonetta in TPS format. The game is [radio edit]ing insane, with high emphasis put on incredibly fast-paced gameplay, combining Action and Shooter elements together, to the point that it doesn't particularly feel like one or the other. One of the best aspects of the game is the boost system, which activates jets in the main character's boots to cover large distances in short amounts of time, and can even be used for attacking purposes(like [radio edit]ing jumping during it and rocket-kicking the enemy in the face). This also makes using cover insanely awesome, as there's emphasis on boosting from one cover to another, as everything's Bullet Hell-ish and coming at you from all directions(plus cover can actually get destroyed by enemies.) Another great gameplay aspect is the ARS system, which allows the player to temporarily activate bullet time, allowing for insanely awesome attacks and other things, like the ability to shoot bullets and missiles out of the air. In short: Good god, this game is insanely awesome. The plot and dialogue are really cheesey, but that's a part of its charm as a callback to old 2D bullet hell games. It's definitely worth a rent, if nothing else. |

Crysis 2.![]() But not, I enjoy FPS that have augmented movement abilities. CoD-esqe movement and health is super lame and it gets really old, so it's always nice to see different takes on the FPS. Gears of War is retarded though. 90% of the guns in that game are inaccurate as hell and if it weren't for the cover system it would suck. |

Sega is returning from beyond their grave? Fabulous, darling. We must have more epic, original games. Vanquish looks loads of fun. But I would probably suck at it. XD |

Platinum Games' contract with them is the best thing Sega's gotten in forever, IMO. |

Indeed. And I just noticed how much the main character reminds me of the guardians from Hellgate London. D: |

*instantly perks up* I'd seen this game in action before and it looked intense. I really wanted to give it a whirl, but unfortunately the whole console thing limits my access to it. Maybe in another life. |

Just beat the game. Didn't last long, but the last boss fight involved the main character deflecting the attacks of two laser-sword-wielding robots simulatenously with his wrists. I'm pretty sure I've become several times more badass after playing this game. |
