Temple of Kraden News: Welcome to the Temple of Kraden! ------ All worshipers may enter the Most Holy Place in single file, reflecting on the bountiful blessing Kraden hath provided unto him or herself since their last visit. Head coverings are not necessary, as true penitence and humility are found within. The Priests and Priestesses of Kraden endeavor to remind all that fresh orange juice is heavily preferred; only whores use frozen.
Greetings, heathen. Perhaps some fortuitous blessing of Kraden's grace hath led you to our humble Temple, or perhaps you are simply curious about this strange and wonderful cult. Should you be willing - and dare to hope - to achieve enlightenment, the door opens before you. Lo! Leave your old life behind! You become a Kradenette.

Wheey! I've became a human being!! I am very handsam!

I don't think he necessarily means unbalanced in terms of "way too powerful and breaks the game," he means that some jobs are literally crappier versions of other jobs that you should straight-up never use.

jobs unbalanced
Tell that to FFV also known as "Freelancer is better than everything ever except maybe mimes".

i still love v don't hurt me
Yeah, at the end game once you trained enough of everything else. Whereas in III since abilities are fixed to jobs there's no reason to become many of them. At least in V Freelancer and Mime are so strong because they can combine the other job abilities. In addition to what Crash said, mind you.

Also, Garuda is that thing that you need Dragoons to beat.

Garuda did suck but he's got nothing on Hein. Bosses that are able to shift their weakness/absorbed elements at will and without announcing the new element changes does not work well -at all- in a turn-based game.

But still, none of that comes even close to the awfulness of the endgame.

Well, I must admit that it's been a hellava long time since I've played FFIII. And the endgame boss rush pissed me off so much that I refused to play it after I got there, thus preventing it from being the first FF game I beat. ):

Though I've beaten XII. Yay for being able to claim that I've beaten an FF game.

I've yet to play X or XI. I've played I-XII otherwise, though. Excluding X-2 as well, though.

I'm mostly talking about non-spin offs. I -somewhat- consider X-2 a non-spin off. Though I have played Revenant Wings a lil bit. I've even played VII:Crisis Core too.

I beat Revenant Wings. It was an alright game. The bonus dungeon thing, though, that one's frustrating as hell. Not because it's hard but because 'ugh same thing over and over'

You ain't listening in the right places then, Chris.

Rebel Army Theme >>> Castle Pandaemonium

And yeah, NES version is a train wreck. You actually lose stats based on their disuse/use of others. Of course 95% of those who have played it played a later version first so that doesn't really stand up as an argument against it.

Anyway, I don't think it's a bad game, but merely mediocre and in terms of main series games it is only better than III. The character/stat leveling up system is perfectly fine, but the weapon/magic leveling up systems are awful simply because of how freaking long it takes to level anything up beyond the first few levels. And the lategame puts so much emphasis on magic that if you haven't grinded it all up to acceptable levels, you're toast. The story ain't too bad, you can see where they kinda "re-did" a lot of it in IV to improve it.
I did not know that about the original, all I've played are the remakes starting with the GBA remake.

However, I love the game so much it's among my favorites - I actually PREFER this leveling system, where you can custom build your characters to whatever specification you want, rather than just doing the class system thing. I think this was also the precursor to the SaGa series...

Another thing I like is FFV, which is pretty up there on my list. I dislike how everything devolved into "training up the Freelancer", since that could have been done MUCH better (stats are augmented by what skill you equip, giving those skill stat support, rather than just having the best stats of all the mastered classes), but I just freaking LOVED how many classes were in the game.

I think FF should really focus on two or three systems and actually DEVELOP THEM rather than changing it every freaking game.

The Class/Job system from FFI, III, V, and to an extent, 9 is a great thing to develop. Hell, look at how FFT has evolved!
The Materia-esque systems from FFVII and its precursor form from FFVI could easily be developed well. As much as I dislike 7, the system does have a sound basis that could be awesome if done right.
And the oft hated Junction System, which I LOVED, could be improved as well. I'd love to see that evolved past its original form.

FF as a whole suffers because it keeps freaking changing, rather than evolving... it's kinda disappointing, really.

I have never beaten a main-series Final Fantasy game, despite having played seven of them. Also III has all of my hatred forever.
